4.0 at school in the 40s... where to?
4.0 at UMD (PT) (10 credits, 3 classes) 1st semester, definitely either first or second in class (ranks aren't out yet, but one person got an A+ in one class, so depending on their other grades, I might be 2nd). Other stats: 5 years WE, 168 LSAT, but 3.2 in college at T3 undergrad after transferring from top 50 school. Also accepted into law school first go-round at GW (PT) and super secret waitlisted (essentially preferred-plus, never got off the waitlist) at Georgetown (PT), decided to go to UMD for family and $ reasons, but those reasons might go away if I could go Top 10.
If I keep it up, where should I try/what are my chances top 10? (No desire to go to school in NYC)
Penn would be ideal.

I hope that by this you mean if you get into a T10 you'll get a divorce.blagar wrote:4.0 at UMD (PT) (10 credits, 3 classes) 1st semester, definitely either first or second in class (ranks aren't out yet, but one person got an A+ in one class, so depending on their other grades, I might be 2nd). Penn would be ideal, as I love Philly and might be able to take the train daily from Baltimore without having to sell my house or have my wife have to quit her job.

Ha! No, she'd probably just look for a job elsewhere, and we'd rent the house out or sell it.

Hate to tell you this, but Penn is definitely out, no matter how well you do, simply for the fact that you are PT: http://www.law.upenn.edu/prospective/jd ... ments.html
You should probably check out the other schools' policies on PT transfers. UVA might also be difficult because you aren't in-state.

Thanks. Not a big deal, I'm really just floating the idea right now. Definitely looks like I might have to look into PT transfer policy a little deeper to see when and where I can transfer.Hate to tell you this, but Penn is definitely out, no matter how well you do, simply for the fact that you are PT: http://www.law.upenn.edu/prospective/jd ... ments.html

Are you going to be able to meet the minimum credit requirements by the end of this year? Typically they are around 28-29, and if you are only at 20 credits by the end of the year that would mean you would need to take 8-9 credits in the summer, which is probably not even possible if your school does a 8 week summer semester (based on the ABA credit load requirements -- I believe the most you can take is 7 credits in the summer across an 8 week semester). Additionally, will your school even let a PT student take the maximum number of credits in the summer? Your options may be limited to Virginia for the t10.

OP should ask OperaSoprano about this, as she is likely the most knowledgable pt transfer person on this board. Also, OP, I think Columbia takes pt transfers, but then you'd be in NYC.XxSpyKEx wrote:Are you going to be able to meet the minimum credit requirements by the end of this year? #1 at Maryland with low cost of tuition and living vs. taking on GULC and a crap ton of debt with less of a guarantee of a great job than being #1 at MD? I don't know......
