While my fears tell me you are right, my mind tells me you are wrong. In classes of 100+ people, I got the highest grade in each of them. If it was a crapshoot, wouldn't that be basically impossible?johndoe wrote:I think law school is way more of a crapshoot than people give it credit for, and it's very easy to regress to the mean. Thanks. Yeah, I called them once so I don't know if I should again. If I'm not complete by like the middle of next week, I'll definitely call.

Serious. I told myself that it was a crapshoot last semester until I got my grades back. However, I set the curve on a midterm and on two of my finals. It's hard to think of that as random.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
According to the GULC site you can mail LOR's directly to the school. So if you can get a prof to send one out within the next week or so you should be fine.

Yeah since you can send it directly there then, I would call GULC let them know its coming, then find some prof and really let them know how serious it is, and overnight it to GULC.

Who could do this? That is so unthoughtful I can't even believe it. Apper- forget that professor and go to every professor you can on Monday, in person, and tell them your situation. Bring a letter about yourself with you and tell them you will pick it up and mail it yourself or give them a stamped envelope.apper123 wrote:.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Hey all. When I submitted my application to Gtown about 2 weeks ago, this note was included in the email they sent me providing my username and password for the status checker:
Early Decision Applicants:
This year we have changed the timeline for our Early Decision Process. If you wish to apply Early Decision, your application must be complete with all required documentation (including application form and fee and personal statement, letter(s) of recommendation, resume, etc.) by March 1. Your decision will be issued within 3 weeks of when your application becomes complete.
Does this apply to us? Should we be worried? Thanks for your time!

I'm pretty sure they're talking about 1L admissions. They call the early transfer process 'early action' and the 1L early process 'early decision'.

That's what I thought, but isn't the 1L ED deadline WAY earlier than March 1st? I get the feeling that this language applies to 1L admissions, but something doesn't feel right! Does anyone have an answer?

A few schools (Georgetown included) extended their ED programs to basically the RD deadline. It's no longer early so much as it is binding and quickly processed.JR00576 wrote:That's what I thought, but isn't the 1L ED deadline WAY earlier than March 1st? I already asked this before but never got a reply. I sent my application in a little over a weak ago. If they have all of my documents but don't process them until after the 15th, does that mean no EA for me? Thanks.

But I think they understand that a lot of the stuff were submitting is out of our control. I think if you have submitted by the 15th you are good. But this is me being optimistic after speaking with GULC on the phone, although not about that topic specifically

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
I submitted my GULC app last monday, 3/1 electronically and I got an immediate email from GULC with my login/pass for the status check. Everything was bundled together via LSAC (LOR, PS, transcript) except of course the transfer cert form.
I went to my school's registar's office the same day I submitted the app (3/1) and requested that they send the form directly to GULC. Today (3/8), I called GULC to confirm what was needed to be "complete" because my status check still says "Application Received." The nice lady on the phone told me it was just the transfer cert form and I advised her that my school sent it out. She put me on hold and came back a few minutes later and told me she doesnt see it (she said she looked where it would have been). So I go to my registrar's office again today and they have in their log that the letter went out the next day I requested it (3/2). I told them GULC hadnt received it and requested they send out another transfer cert form just to make sure.
Can anyone else who submitted everything EXCEPT the transfer cert form via LSAC give me an approx on how long it took for GULC to process the cert form? I figure if the letter went out last Tuesday it probably got there by Thursday which only leaves Friday and today for them to have processed it but the lady was pretty sure the letter wasnt in.

newyorker,
I had my current LS overnight the transfer cert. form on 2/15, and it didnt show up as complete until 2/25. However, I think that they were dealing with a backlog from the snow.

Hey, does anyone know if GULC would know that I applied ED the first-time around, and got rejected. Do you think they take this stuff into consideration? Thanks!
