Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Update: In via postal mail today. The deposit is due July 6, 2010. It's $800, which seems pretty excessive. Also, I can't access the ASW, for whatever reason.t14orelse wrote:Also went to DR yesterday. #1/~200 at a T50.
Edit: Complete on 6/15, was deferred EA

I'm aware. It wouldn't let me do so despite being accepted.mardimar wrote:you have to request a user name/password to enter the ASW.

For what its worth, TTT top 5-10%.
I agree - Plus the deadline coincides with Dean Cornblatt's return from vacation. I'm guessing it will be pretty quiet on the home front for a while until then....

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Update:
I'm in as well. I went under review around 6/12 and I went to decision rendered on 6/23.
I received an email with a symplicity username and password today. I also have access to the admitted students site.
Good luck to everyone.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
There have been like, 3 or 4 acceptances on TLS. And they were all for students that were roughly #1 in their class. I'm sure many more will be coming.Big Shrimpin wrote:True. Although during the EA cycle, if I remember correctly, there were two waves from GULC: 1) acceptances and 2) WLs. Since GULCs RD cycle deadline was the 15th (I think), its a little disconcerting that a big wave of acceptances has already gone out.lawschool7777 wrote:dude..u needa chill..no one has even been rejected yet

For those who have been accepted... When did you send your grades/official transcript/class rank in? I am wondering because I did not got my grades until June 18th. An official transcript went to GULC today but I had gone under review on June 22nd. We finally got our rank today and I sent them an email. For those who went under review earlier and already have decisions, were all of your docs in before you went under review and got a decision? Thanks!
I am at a T60 school top 8%, chances?? I have no idea, just keeping my fingers crossed. I was deferred from EA.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
I applied EA, deferred, and also got my grades 6/18. I e-mailed them ASAP, and went "under review" immediately the next day on 6/22. ALSO just got my ranking today, and I'm Top 1% at #60 school, in the top 5 students....I'm hoping to hear something very soon. So for all of you who are worried and freaking out, DON"T WORRY, we're all in the same boat!!
1. Do you think the actual rankings are important? Should I e-mail them and notify them that rankings were just released? Because when I spoke to them when my grades first came out...i was told that it doesn't matter if rankings aren;t out, they can still review my app.
2. Also, i remember someone mentioning around EA time that when an app goes "under review", that means that a decision will be rendered within a week. Does anyone know how much truth this holds? If I went UR 6/22, I guess I should expect to hear sometime this week??

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Also, just wanted to see who here was having the same dilemmas that I am dealing with during this whole transfer application process...
I have been wanting to transfer ever since I started 1L (a friend told me I had my foot out of the door since the first day of 1L), but now that it seems more possible than ever, I am starting to have doubts about what I should do.
For example, how many of you will be giving up substantial sums of money or even a full scholarship to transfer to a school like Georgetown?? I'm getting about 3/4 scholarship now, but was told it would likely be increased to full if my grades kept up during 2nd semester. is going to a school like Gtown worth the extra debt and costs, then being top at a Lower T1 or T2?? This is the big dilemma I'm currently facing, and it seems everyone is convincing me to take the money and run!
Also, having to make new friends and form a whole new social circle as a transfer is going to be annoying, and I feel like I've built such great friendships and connections during 1L, and there are people I will be so sad to say goodbye to. I know 1L just felt like a big "we're all in this together" endeavor, and there was a lot of camaraderie between us 1Ls, which I fear will not be present at other schools.
and finally, does anyone know what the housing situation is like at GULC?!

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
I think it's worth it for you to transfer, but to a school much higher than GULC (unless you have connections or a desire to be in DC). Have you applied to Harvard, Columbia, NYU, etc.? Those are the schools you should be targeting at Top 1% (even from Tier 2).bigred87 wrote:Also, just wanted to see who here was having the same dilemmas that I am dealing with during this whole transfer application process...

Do they only update the status check once a day? Also, did anyone have something written in the "requirements" part of the status check? I submitted my application on 6/14 and updated my final grades late last week, but still have not gone complete or UR. I'm just wondering when that will happen!

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
I was deferred Early Action and received my admissions packet in the mail on saturday (my status checker went to decision rendered on the 23rd as well)
(top 10-20% at a T30 in the midwest, personal reasons for wanting to move to the east coast, particularly the DC/NY/Philly area)
It feels like a really tight turnaround, especially since I only got access to the admitted students site yesterday -- has anyone asked (successfully or unsuccessfully) for an extension on the July 6th deposit?

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
If it makes you feel better I just sent in my form today saying I wasn't going to be accepting a seat in the incoming class, so that is one more acceptance someone else on here will get ... going to Michigan :p AND, seeings that their transfer class is huge and many acceptances will also likely have applied to higher ranked schools, there will definitely be more acceptance comingBig Shrimpin wrote:True. Since GULCs RD cycle deadline was the 15th (I think), its a little disconcerting that a big wave of acceptances has already gone out. While I'm definitely holding out hope that RD transpires differently than EA, I can't help but wonder if the same or similar series of events will happen.lawschool7777 wrote:dude..u needa chill..no one has even been rejected yet
Surely, as all those T20-30 + top 1-5%'ers collect their HYSCCN acceptances (and after the BPMVDNC acceptances, lol), the playing field will change. However, with looming OCI deadlines and deposits due for other schools, I can't help but vent the pressure (because nobody but TLSers would understand such a plight ).
Sorry for the negativity, and I hope I'm waaaaay off.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
It seems like this batch is fairly random, unlike the EA decisions which came out in bunches. Does this seem to be more of a rolling admissions process for RD? Maybe it is different because of the timing of the release of grades and rank etc.
Also, people who have been accepted. Did you just see decision rendered and then you recieved a packet in the mail a few days later or was there an interim email?
Has anyone been rejected yet?
