That settles it. Top 16% at MSU being deferred essentially makes all of our deferrals worthless.

If by worthless you mean failed GULC EA, then yeah. But you said you would be ecstatic with even a deferral, so maybe not.A'nold wrote:That settles it. Top 16% at MSU being deferred essentially makes all of our deferrals worthless.

Actually, I think I might need to retract more of my posts. Going through the 1L lists, it looks like several 1L EA's who got deferred, were later accepted meeting adcoms. Anyone know the adcoms?Bankhead wrote:If by worthless you mean failed GULC EA, then yeah. But you said you would be ecstatic with even a deferral, so maybe not.A'nold wrote:That settles it. I thought there was more of a bright line cutoff b/w acceptances/deferrals/rejects but apparently GULC just defers everyone to RD. Thus, I can't really be "happy" b/c it doesn't seem like us deferrals are any closer to an acceptance than normal RD applicants.

To my understanding your numbers have, historically, gained admittance in GULC RD. Everyone being deferred doesn't change this! You'll be fine.A'nold wrote:Bankhead wrote:If by worthless you mean failed GULC EA, then yeah. But you said you would be ecstatic with even a deferral, so maybe not.A'nold wrote:That settles it. Thanks. Yeah, I don't want people to think I'm being bitter or douchey but it's just like, "hey, at least I wasn't rejected, there's some silver lining here." Then somebody's all like, "yeah, that's great news, my boyfriend was deferred too. He's doing really great in ls, I mean, he's TOP HALF at Cooley, I think he really has a shot!"apper123 wrote:To my understanding your numbers have, historically, gained admittance in GULC RD. It just makes the deferral seem like a "Meet the Fockers" type ribbon or trophy for 8th place out of 10 or something, lol.

The Guy that was Top 16% was a CPA for 3 years in Taiwan and is from Canada... He goes to MSU because of the joint program they have for the University of Ottawa.
I understand that MSU is T3, but I'm sure the race card comes into play.

Maybe running a drug cartel or being tried for war crimes aren't negative softs after all. Sure would add diversity to the 2L class.coachjsabio wrote:You never know this day and age... Anything can be considered adding diversity. haha

Deferred this morning as well. 3.75 at GW. Teach For America. Thought I would be in auto. Oh well. 3d time deferred at Gtown. Old hat. Back to the grind.

Alright, so at this point it is not looking like there are any rejections at all!? Or maybe they just arent as neurotic as us and on this board? Who knows, but if they just defer anyone they don't accept, that obviously isnt good for us deferrals...

Wow, I was deferred too. 3.87 at top 50. Most of the autoadmits must have been 4.0's then....

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
No, they might have just decided for whatever reason you weren't worth an EA acceptance. They probably try to narrowly tailor their admits to people likely to be swayed by the early decision. They may assume you'll have other options, or that your interests point elsewhere, or some such. I wouldn't assume people getting in were objectively more qualified, since unless you go to NU a 3.87 would be damn near the top of the class.GULCHOPEFUL1 wrote:Wow, I was deferred too. 3.87 at top 50. Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Well if that is the case then this sure is frustrating. GULC is the only place I have applied and will apply to for personal reasons. So, just wish I had made the cut originally and could move on with a plan for next year.

I would assume the PT program is much less competitive. Are you currently in a PT program.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
