I would presume that you would have a solid chance of getting into a t4-6 if you graduated at the top 1-5% of your class, up to about top 50 schools. (Do not let this number be random, as I would presume a GREAT deal on the US Rankings for your transfer school and your target school would be in play.) It's not an easy feat. As many have already pointed out, the school you should have applied to is the school you want to graduate from, unless some various new circumstances arose. (Family issues, financial issues, etc.) That being said, if you're a soon to be 1L and trying to think about transferring ALREADY, I would seriously ask you to consider why you took law/decided on law in the first place. That being said, I would presume if you wanted top 6-20 you should just aim for the top 10-15% of your class from any school between ranks 10-30.

I would also like to point out that there are some schools that considered "transfer-friendly."
For instance you would have a much higher chance of getting into say Harvard as opposed to Yale, simply because the number of candidates that Harvard accepts is greater than Yale on average per year. You would have a higher chance at Georgetown as opposed to Harvard as they accept yearly a HUGE transfer crop. UVA is more transfer friendly than UT. Etc. If you're not willing to put forth the effort to research these things in advance, then you sure as hell won't be able to transfer anywhere competitively. That's just my 2 cents. Good luck.
