Why not Harvard too? You will definitely get in at Columbia and NYU considering 5% at TT gets in these a lot of the time. I'd say good shot at any school besides Yale.Charlie_Bradbury wrote:3.88 first semester (rank is #12 out of 285) at T20 school.
This semester's grades should be just as good or better.
Any thoughts on Stanford, Columbia or NYU?
Thanks!

Thanks for the input. A girl from my school got into S with similar 1L grades last year, but I don't know what her resume & essay were like--maybe those were deciding factors.juzam_djinn wrote:weak shot at S, good chances for C/NCharlie_Bradbury wrote:3.88 first semester (rank is #12 out of 285) at T20 school.

I was under the (perhaps misguided) impression that the only people H took as transfers were those that barely missed the cut applying the first round, but maybe I should reconsider! Nah. They say that might give you a boost but you can still get in if you have a strong enough application.Charlie_Bradbury wrote:I was under the (perhaps misguided) impression that the only people H took as transfers were those that barely missed the cut applying the first round, but maybe I should reconsider! Do you think my lack of law school extra-curriculars will hurt? I should have an invitation for law review here by the time the transfer app is due but other than that I really just focused on my grades this year. LORs and personal essay will be solid though.lawman84 wrote:Nah. Don't know. Transfer process is a black box. But your numbers are in the ballpark. You have a good enough chance for it to be worth the application.Charlie_Bradbury wrote:Do you think my lack of law school extra-curriculars will hurt? Re: 2016 1L Transfer Thread
Alright guys give me some realistic chances (T15 and some California schools):
As of first semester:
T4
Top 13% of class (will be in top 10% by end of 2nd semester, possibly top 5% if I overachieve)
70+ hours pro bono
Two glowing letters of rec from professors
A unique story
Minority, but middle eastern so technically white
Applied for early decision transfer: UC Davis, UC Hastings, USC Gould, Georgetown, George Mason, and Boston Law. Looking to stay in California, mostly, but will change mind if school is good enough. Any other early transfers that I should take a part in (honestly looking to gauge interest from schools so any region will do as long as school is ranked in the top 100).
So far I've heard back from George Mason. Got a phone interview in a few days. Woo!

Removed everything that won't count for anything on your application. Why Boston???lawstudent2999 wrote:Alright guys give me some realistic chances (T15 and some California schools):

Sorry for the confusion. I meant tier-4. And I really just wanted to gauge the interests of the schools. Application process is free for me so I thought "why not?"barkschool wrote:Removed everything that won't count for anything on your application. Anyway, I've heard back from two schools. Phone interview with ASSoL law and moved to regular decision for Boston. Meh.

I'm in at Vandy. Pretty pumped about it. Just waiting on USC and Notre Dame.

I think it wouldn't be a waste of an application fee if you sent to Columbia, NYU, and Berkeley, if those (or better) are your stats after second semester grades are in. You could throw one at Chicago, I just don't see that one happening. Keep up the good work, though.gobblegobble123 wrote:T3 3.8 roughly 5th in class.

4.0, top 5% TTT in California
Sent in my application to UT, only place I will apply. Texas resident working at a firm in Austin/San Antonio this summer. Just waiting for final grades so they can review my application.
Hoping to hear back quickly, anyone know the turnaround time for UT once final grades are in?

Most people have said they heard something within the next 10 days. Took much longer for early action thoughsf2tx wrote:4.0, top 5% TTT in California

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
