I go to Washington and Lee, I have a 3.904 GPA and the Top 5% cut off is 3.814. I figure this makes me top 2 or 3. I know one person did better than I, but it is a very small school so he might be the only one. I have no softs to speak of. I am a full time student. I did my undergrad at Harvard's night school, I doubt that it matters, but it might have an effect on my chances at Harvard.

I applied to Harvard, NYU, Columbia and Chicago.

Me:

t20, 3.62, top 10% cutoff is 3.66...so I'm guessing top 15%.

GULC-In (EA)
Boalt
NYU
Columbia
Penn
Duke

I know I'm reaching with these, but I really, really want berkeley (did undergrad there, gf still lives there, love bay area, etc).

Chances?

I'd say great at everywhere but maybe Columbia and Berkeley. I'd still say 50% chance at least at Berk though.

Whoa, RAing for a senile Civ Pro professor isn't a solid soft? You could write an amazing essay about your sartorial choices..... no seriously, Mr. luthersloan, I predict that you, and I, will get into NYU, Columbia and Chicago and that we'll both get rejected at Harvard. Unless they love my write-on.

I agree, that is the most probable outcome. Just do drop me a line to tell me which school you will be going to, before I have to make my decision.

Out of those three, Chicago. In all seriousness, I think that would suit you best, and besides, there's our classmate, who surely outweighs my obnoxiousness. On the other hand, supposing I made their write-on, you might just spontaneously combust from seeing my name on the masthead. It's a tough call. I think you should call the Chairman of our Transnational Institute in whatever malaria-infested country he's in currently and ask him what he thinks about it.

These largely look like 50/50 chances to me, Harvard obviously being an exception. Hence, probability says you get into a couple, but that assumes they're independent events, which isn't the case... so the answer is, it depends. If your other factors are whatever, maybe you get in nowhere, if they're strong, perhaps you get into three or even four more.

Thats funny, I predict you get in nowhere if your Profs heard down the grapevine what an _ _ _ you are and wrote LoRs accordingly.

:)

But, all jokes aside - good luck all.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
