Yeah, their late emailing is so weird. Everyone would have left the office a couple of hours before that. I wonder why they have it set up to email so late.
Probably to prevent people from responding to the email (and them having to consciously ignore it).

But really, I have no idea. Maybe their server reboots/saves at 8pm and is queued to send out the emails. I know 0 things about how computers work, though.

The status checkers are all updated by hand, I do know that. Learned that during the GULC EA cycle. The people at NYU spelled out "Place" at the end of my address and HLS kept it abbreviated as "Pl." It was "Pl" on my application.

yeah, that I figured. I don't think the emails by CLS are sent coincidentally + intentionally after 8pm, though =P

Hey guys! I'm planning on submitting my application to Columbia today and I just had a couple questions:

(1) This is the obligatory "what are my chances" question: I am no. 3 (top 1.8%) in my class; school is in the 40-50 range; moot court; dean's list both semesters; two book awards; math undergrad; a sizable amount of community service; two years work in a law firm prior to law school; and this summer I'm interning as a research assistant for a professor and doing pro bono at the local PDs.

(2) I know Columbia only needs two LoR, but I have four I could possibly send them (two from last semester's professors—including my LWR professor—and two from this semester's professors). What do you guys think?

Thanks for the help! I'm really hoping to get in!! I applied to Berkeley, but haven't heard back...so I'm thinking I've been rejected...

Congrats on the great stats! I think you will have no problem getting in and you should probably send an app to Harvard too.

If you don't feel comfortable sending all of the LoRs send the two you think would be the best, but I don't see the harm in sending all four.

Anyone know any stats (or anecdotes) about the chances of a part-time student being able to transfer?

Anyone know if Columbia (or other schools) will consider my app before receiving my dean's cert? My law school is probably sending it today, but wanted to know if my application was being held up as a result (all my materials were sent weeks ago).

they will not forward it to the adcom with out it. you will get an email saying your app is complete and that is when it goes under review.

Okay thanks - just wondering because one school made a decision without it

If so, Wednesday or Thursday. Really I have no idea, though. They're hard to gauge. There are quite a few "completes" though... so maybe. Especially considering their peer (NYU) is probably deciding this week.

My status checker has yet to go complete even though I confirmed that they had everything last Wednesday. I definitely think CLS is keeping to their timeline of last year. I doubt they've even begun reviewing--hopefully there's some sort of movement this week.

did they send you an email saying you were complete and under review? I got that email two weeks ago and still have unchecked things on my status checker

I called and they said they received everything. I've yet to get the email or have things checked off on my status checker.

Me too. But this doesn't worry me at all. Last year people were accepted in this state.

Chances that CLS makes decisions this week ?

I'm not sure. Their deadline isn't for another two weeks. Although that hasn't stopped Michigan from releasing decisions over a month before their deadline.

I could see NYU/CLS in a race to release decisions before the weekend.

i think last year was the earliest that CLS has released decisions and it was the 10th.. i would be shocked (in a great way) if decisions came out prior to the holiday weekend

I'd like to think this week, but next week sounds more plausible. CLS is usually a week behind NYU anyways. It's a shame cause I want CLS > NYU.

I spoke with them yesterday to confirm they received something and they said at earliest next week for decisions.

Have you gone complete yet? I know they have everything for my app, but I just want to see it reflected on the status checker!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
