Me too. Very helpful. I'd also like to throw my hat in the ring for housing/roommate options. Put in an application for Columbia housing but not too optimistic. I'm 24, female. Has anyone started the apartment hunt yet?
do you know if the housing application is binding if you are accepted in, say, a crappy 4 BR shared suite? From looking at the prices of studios in the two main LS buildings, the prices aren't very competitive. Decent studios b/t 86th and 116th are a bit cheaper (of course some utilities are included).

i've been looking at ads on craigslist for 2 BRs to split with a friend of mine, and the price range we are looking it is $2000-$2400. In general, farther south (near 86th) = crappier the amenities, whereas farther north (110th and up) = much nicer amenities. of course that's an inverse correlation to the desirability of the neighborhoods. so you have to choose - do you prefer to feel safe walking at night? or a gas range and granite counter top? lol
I'm pretty sure it's not binding- I think there was something on the application that said if you are offered a spot, you just have to accept by a certain day or it will go to someone else. When I talked to the housing people yesterday, it sounds like there are a very limited number of studios available (but prettyyy expensive, like $1900/month) and there is a waitlist for apartment shares, about $1000-1200/month, which seems more reasonable. The apartment shares seem pretty decent to me so long as I don't have to share my actual bedroom! But not sure how the whole waitlist thing will play out...

Same here: talked to someone at OCS yesterday and she was very helpful. I also put in my housing app but I should probably start an apartment search as well. Anyone in? 22 year old male.

For those of you that got in, how long after you went complete did it take you to get your decision?

Went complete on Monday, decision rendered on Thursday (along with the big wave of acceptances that came that day.

Not liking the sound of a waitlist for housing. I'm in to search for housing with some people if anyone is interested. PM me and we can get something together. Looking to share a 2 or 3 bedroom. 22 year old male here.

x2 to disliking the sound of housing waitlist. I'd be up for some housing with other TLS'ers. 23/m, though I could care less the age/gender of my roomies as long as they are clean, relatively pleasant, and minimize the midnight techno rave sessions.

Oh man, just got my housing waitlist number. It's 395. I called and they said that last year they were able to place 50-100 people per week but they have much less housing available this year. Definitely not counting on that at all.

So, I just got my wait list number for housing: New Male 466.

Anyone care to share how far ahead or behind they are of me?

Yup. I really hope I made some good decisions on my bids. It's hard to know!

In the end I moved away from trying to game the system, and concentrated on identifying the 10-15 that I really wanted and putting them up top, and didnt try to risk it too much.

Hope the next (and likely week) round of decisions comes out early this week. How does bidding work for Columbia? All lottery I assume? How many bids do you get?

How does bidding work for transfers admitted this week or next? Seems like the deadline to submit bids already passed.

Someone in the career office told me that they have somewhat of a rolling deadline for bidding depending on when you were admitted. But I think the lottery results come out on August 1.

Also - is anyone else working through journal apps and perhaps also moot court stuff? I'm not sure if moot court is worth it but thinking about putting together an application. Does anyone know anything about the different journals, their reputations, etc?

Haven't really made any headway on housing yet but I will be arriving in NYC on Monday, August 1. If anyone is looking for a roommate(s) send me a PM and we can look for housing together. Oh ya, Male & 23.

Roughly what vault rankings are transfers competitive at? (I'm not a huge fan of the vault rankings, but they're a good proxy for competition with other students I suppose.)

Are people bidding on two or three regions (e.g. NYC, DC, and SOCAL) ? Or too risky?

Folks -
I'm looking for a roomie or two, so PM me if you're interested in finding a place. 23/m, though I don't really care the a/s of my roommates. Looking forward to seeing you all at orientation!

Hey everyone, I know of two bedrooms available in a three-bedroom apartment in Harlem. 113th & 8th. It's a really nice place and I was going to live there myself but found something else at the last minute. The rent is very reasonable about $800-900 for each bedroom. PM me if you're interested!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
