A forum for those current students who are or may be transferring from one school to another. Post any questions, advice, or other transfer related comments here.

Anonymous Posting

Anonymous posting is only available to the creator of each thread. The anonymous posting feature is intended to permit the solicitation of anonymous advice regarding the transfer application process, chances of being accepted, etc. Unacceptable uses include: testing the feature, questions which are clearly fake or hypothetical in nature, harassing other users, etc. Posters should also read and understand the announcements posted at the top of the Transfers forum prior to using the anonymous feature.

Failure to follow these rules will get you outed, warned, or banned.

Well, I never was crazy about Duke's faux-gothic architecture, but partly because it was all done with flagstone at a local quarry, which is rather incongruous for gothic. Whereas Cornell I did like, back in the day, when I visited for undergrad. I do worry though that it'd be a step down from Georgetown as far as D.C. recuritment.

Ummm.....a low t2 is not THAT different than a "respectable" t3. It's funny that xfactor gave me mostly dings and waitlists and dude that has a worse ranking than me gets in everywhere, including GW. :wink:

Haha, I am sure there really isn't that much difference ... but, I would take an acceptance at 1 school and be happy. I am sure we will both get in somewhere.

somebody want to take a crack at mine...

current school rank is ~60. top 14%. pretty strong softs, for whatever that is worth. texas resident. one really strong lor from a professor and a second pretty generic one. got three book awards. applied to:

Vanderbilt- out?
Virginia- definitely out due to residency from the get-go
GULC- gonna say out as well.

Not trying to be a downer but this seems to be what the transferapps database would predict.

With July 15th deposit deadline at GW and July 14th deposit deadline at Emory, we should be hearing from them sooner rather than later.

rustyb04, not so pessimistic on your chances at Texas or Vandy. Not much data on transferapps on Vandy, but think you have a shot at both, maybe 50/50

What class rank? GPA alone doesn't tell us much, especially if your school credits A+'s with a 4.33 (which mine doesn't -- A and A+ both earn 4.0 here, unfortunately).

top 10% is 3.6. they won't tell us more than that. i assume i'm in the top 10 of so students or maybe 5.

If top 5 students, which it seems like you are, here are my guesses:

NYU: auto admit (90+% chance)
CLS: auto admit (90+% chance)
Harvard: 60% chance
Yale: 25% chance

Agree with A'nold but I think 25% at Y may be high

Anyone bored enough to predict mine,

T20 5-10% (in 5% increments; top 10 students first semester)
Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Chicago, NYU, and Berkeley apps
