What about the fact that in some cases transfers at the new school OCI are treated differently than non-transfers i.e. GPA not counting or not counting as much? Perhaps it is because I don't have a dog in the fight, but unless strictly prohibited you should take advantage of any benefit you may have.
i have spoken with a few hiring partners at biglaw firms about this. They will compare you to your 1L school and how you did there, with the fact/benefit that you'll be receiving an "improved legal education" at your new school for the next 2 years. Yeah, you're right, there is a benefit, there's also a benefit to tax evasion, doesn't mean you should do it/it's the ethical thing to do.
As someone who is also transferring this summer, I would not even consider doing OCI at my 1L school because it's completely unfair to my former classmates. I'm already in a way better position than them because I did/am able to transfer, so why would I want to take away what little opportunity they have, when I have a lot more opportunities because I transferred (I mean this in the least pretentious way possible, but it's just fact). Also, I would rather be associated with my new school to these firms, and not present myself as a current/returning student to my 1L school.
This.
Even though there is no rule against it - or at least not an explicitly stated rule, and even before I came on this forum and read the general wisdom about OCI and all the processes involved, it just sort of seemed like common sense that you only do OCI at one school. The school where you are planning to stay and graduate from. It is just how things are done.
Like all the other quirks in the law school process, you have to adhere to some sort of accepted method, even if it doesn't seem like it would be the most beneficial to any one person.

I have decided to change tactics and just ask for interview at the firm and explain why I am eithdrawing from my 1L OCI.

Quick rant here since I'll never say this to anybody in person.
I ended up with 3.825, top 10% (I think 5% but never was told straight answer) at 70s. I worked my ass off to get up to speed (I never had a job and hadn't written anything longer than an email in like 7 years prior to law school)
I "only" got in GULC. I really thought I could get in ONE of Chicago, Columbia, Penn and NYU. Not all, but at least one of them. So far, all signs point to I will not.
I think the biggest problems are my undergrad was basically 3 years of straight As and one year of straight Fs (with a D) and complete lack of softs (I have never worked or seriously participated in school activities). I've been told that's a big red flag, probably even worse than someone getting straight Bs en route to the 3.0 I ended up averaging.
At this point in my life, I just have to grind and get the hell away from my undergrad and let my work speak. This will presumably be kept on the interwebs for all the times I remind myself to not fuck up.

It's a bit of expectations management. Given the time frame, if I don't mentally prepare myself, I could not possibly do what I need to do in terms of hauling my ass from NYC to DC.
Thank you for the kind words.
