What am I supposed to raise hell about? They sent me a standard ding email shortly after my contact with them, they can say it was coming anyway. Someone else on this thread said this happened but he/she didnt think it was related. I think it is.canesfan1986 wrote:Why don't you call them back and raise hell? Re: Penn 2012 Transfer Applicants
Idk. I'm sure you were polite. Just because you happened to call and not want to wait until next semester starts for a decision doesn't mean you should be kicked out. Of course, it could be coincidence, but that's a hell of a coincidence.TFR wrote:What am I supposed to raise hell about? Maybe I'll start calling and pretend to be someone else. Then they will get dinged and I'll have a better chance of being accepted.

I don't know. I think it is actually entirely possible they respected your request, pulled your file, and made the decision they were going to make. I doubt they said, "Insolent little punk, how dare he call the UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA and act like we owe him something? We're going to ding him so hard and so fast his kids would feel it if the decision didn't sterilize him."
But it is Philadelphia, so you really never know.

Re: Penn 2012 Transfer Applicants
If that's what happened, I don't think that's what they thought. It would be more like, "Well, we were thinking about accepting him, but since he can't wait for our decision later and we don't have room for him now, we have to ding him." That's what I think, anyway. Still would suck either way.mileslibertatis wrote:I don't know. Thats one explanation. I think though, that I was on some sort of waitlist with a small shot at acceptance and was dinged instead due to my impatience.mileslibertatis wrote:I don't know. Re: Penn 2012 Transfer Applicants
For what it's worth, I called them twice. The first time I requested expedited review to accommodate my Berkeley deadline. I called them again on the 9th to remind them that the deadline was almost up. They admitted me that day. I don't think calling to see what's up is an auto-ding.

Now between Penn and NYU...
I know NYU is a T6 and Penn isn't. BUT Penn is Ivy league, in a city where I have many friends and family, and will end up costing me about $20k less overall.
Still a no-brainer?

Idk. Penn runs Philly, I would imagine. If you wanted to be there with your friends and family, it's a great option.mileslibertatis wrote:Now between Penn and NYU...

Aren't you shooting academia, miles? I don't know that either is particularly great for that, but I'd imagine NYU is better. Both allow transfers to attempt to write on to LR though, which is nice.canesfan1986 wrote:Idk. Penn runs Philly, I would imagine. Dinged. T40 3.77, top 8%. Rejected from Berkeley. Accepted at Michigan.

Got the ding about an hour ago.
Kinda surprised, T30 top 3% (and I'm from PA). Also saw someone else from my 1L school in here who is ranked about 10 spots below me who got in. Just goes to show you how unpredictable this is.

Re: Penn 2012 Transfer Applicants
Thanks guys. It was my #1 choice, but like you said I still have some great options. Now I am agonizing over Mich v. NU. Christ this is a tough decision. I wish Mich's placement hadn't tanked in 2011, then this decision would be easier.
Damn yabuddy, when did you submit your app at Penn? I got mine in on 6/26 but didn't go complete til 7/9. I think the timing was one of the factors that screwed me.

I didn't go complete until 7/9 either, but I wasn't dinged today. Not sure whether or not I should maintain any level of hope. Top 1% T80-90.eastcoast_iub wrote:Thanks guys. It's 6 vs 7... rank isn't going to help you make a decision here.mileslibertatis wrote:Now between Penn and NYU...
