And for all we know, he also may have had an error or something in his app or a less-than-stellar LOR.Ragged wrote:I'm just wondering why didn't he make it into T-14? A'nold must really be a swell of a guy if it took so long for someone to make such a comment, which must be on everyone's mind. If it were almost anyone else who asked whether they should even apply to UW prolly almost every answer would contain the phrase "is retaking the LSAT and reapplying next cycle an option?". But just not here. Anyways, don't mind me. And congrats again A'nold.
I realize that Bild. Just putting it in perspective.
Another question what school did he transfer from? Cuz if it was a T4 or something than its still pretty impressive.

It doesn't put it in perspective because retaking wasn't an option. You're not really sounding that impressive right now.Ragged wrote:I realize that Bild. Just putting it in perspective.

I'm putting the school in perspective. I'm not sure why you require such a degree of explanation.vanwinkle wrote:It doesn't put it in perspective because retaking wasn't an option. You're not really sounding that impressive right now.Ragged wrote:I realize that Bild. Just putting it in perspective.

You made remarkably stupid comments without even knowing what happened. You know, basic information, like where he was transferring from. I don't need any more explanation, as the answer is obvious now: You're an idiot. You should consider not commenting on threads you know nothing about in the future.Ragged wrote:Another question what school did he transfer from? I think I remember it was like T3 or T4. I was just asking specifically. In any case, I meant no offense to A'nold. I just don't see anyone patting someone on the back to such a degree for getting into, say, Cornell. This aberration seemed interesting to me, is all. If anything, this is a testimate to the likabily of A'nold's internet persona. So you see, your annoyance might be misguided.

And here, you've hit the nail on the head.Ragged wrote:If anything, this is a testimate to the likabily of A'nold's internet persona.
When you care about someone, you share in their successes and congratulate them for doing well. When you don't know/care about someone, you usually don't. The reason we all cheer on people like a'nold and vanwinkle is because we all like them. I'd expect that depending on how I do this year, I'll be sharing congrats/condolances with radlaw, kalvano, Miamiman, a'nold, etc. TLS isn't just about advice; when you are a regular and you get to know people on a more personal level, it becomes a great community of support and motivation as well.

Romo is right. TLS isn't just a database of information, it's a community, and being able to watch individual posters try to--and eventually succeed in--going from a T3 school to a T1 school has a human component to it. We all support each other through the admissions process and law school, and so we end up caring when people pull off good things.
It also reflects on everyone else's hopes and dreams here. If someone like A'nold can make a huge upward move while he's in law school and pull off major accomplishments, maybe you can too.

All of this. This is why we stayed on TLS. It's so much more than a question of rank or prestige-- it's about finding a good fit, and, at the risk of sounding ridiculously corny, seeing dreams realized. When I got off the waitlist and into Fordham more than a year ago, I had a thread just like this one, and I was very embarrassed. I tried to make my forbear mods take it down, but no one wanted to, and in the end I realized there was something really cool about a place as cynical as the internet bringing forth such a supportive community. I could not be prouder of A'nold, and I hope he is enjoying every last bit of this moment. It belongs to him, he's earned it, and he'll go on to inspire the next generation.vanwinkle wrote:I think you meant testament.Ragged wrote:This aberration seemed interesting to me, is all. UW is not TTT. Not even close. Try, premier regional school with national prominence. To anyone who thinks UW is TTT, I say this: LOL!

Been following this pretty closely, and SO SUPER excited for A'nold. I think we all are.
I'm sitting here in my LS library, briefing my first class Torts cases and grinning!
(Looking over my shoulder to make sure no one else sees me writing on TLS!
YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!

Thanks guys.
I don't really mind the cynics, except for the ones that are alts made by somebody that seems to have it out for me for some reason. Trust me, I know most people on here would consider attending UW some kind of failure. I took the LSAT multiple times and was a low-160's max kind of tester. I went to the only school I could afford, a t3 state school with an LSAT median of like 154 on a big scholarship. I had better options but did what I had to do for my family.
UW is my Harvard. You would not believe the reception I've received since gaining admission to UW around these parts. I've received multiple congratulatory emails from my 1L firm, even from attorneys I barely spoke to this summer. I have lived my entire life in Seattle and plan to live in the NW indefinitely. It is my home and UW places better than almost every school in the country in this region. One of my fellow UW classmates mentioned in another thread that he'd have turned down every school but a t10 to attend UW. I second this sentiment. You'd have to have experience with the region to understand.
To bwv or whatever your name is: You've been trolling me, not as subtely as you think, for awhile now....out with it already? If you tell me why I rub you the wrong way so badly maybe I can work to fix this extreme flaw?

I usually prefer clouds over sun, but that's likely due to growing up here.acrossthelake wrote:As a fellow Seattlite, congrats. Also, couldn't have put it better.
