I know UVA's status checker indicates that it has received the letter of standing from my registrar. Can anyone confirm whether or not Duke's status checker does the same?sarahmargret wrote:I'm also incomplete at Duke and know they have rec'd everything as of today (my last LOR was received today).

Anyone know if the admissions committees care about making LR at your previous school? Wondering if I should email schools to let them know about this.

My friends and family from OSU, Michigan, and USC would kill me if I didn't recommend WUSTL over ND.mapnoren wrote:Got into Notre Dame too! Now to decide between ND and WUSTL, thoughts?

Congrats to all in the thread! (I'm not actually transferring, I just like watching people succeed; I shall now return to lurking!) Good Luck!

Re: Official 2010 Transfer Cycle Results Thread
I'm having this same debate, but from what I've read and researched, Wash U takes the cake...unless you are set on Chicago. Wash U has a consistently higher ranking and is located in a (relatively) large city, which provides many more networking opportunities. At Wash U, you have direct contact with law firms and state and federal courts; however, ND places better in Chicago than Wash U (although ND still needs to compete with several higher ranked schools, like Chi, Illinois, and NW). Also, ND may have a "fancier" name and reputation, but I still believe Wash U will provide more short and long-term opportunities with its higher rank and location. Neither's OCI is anything to brag about, they are pretty similar in that regard. With all that being said, I think both are great schools and you can't go wrong either way.LawHorn wrote:I am also interested to hear some thoughtsmapnoren wrote:Got into Notre Dame too! Complete at DePaul on 6/29
Decision sent: 07/01
My file was under consideration for less than 48 hours. Is that a bad sign?
Thanks

So if ND places better in Chicago than WUSTL, where do WUSTL lawyers place well? Where do most WUSTL grads go for biglaw?
Oh and my stats are Top 20% at a lower T2, UGPA of 3.95, and resume including among other things, current summer associate job, previous U.S. District court internship, and Phi Beta Kappa.

Re: Official 2010 Transfer Cycle Results Thread
WUSTL grads appear to have excellent opportunities in St. Louis (if you look at the large firms in St. Louis, you will find they all have a lot of WUSTL grads and only a few ND). If you are talking "real" biglaw, as in NY, LA, DC, etc., then neither of the school's place that well in those areas, they are both Midwest-centered. Also, Chicago "biglaw" seems to filled with mostly Northwestern and Chicago people. When I said ND places better than WUSTL in Chicago, I did not mean that WUSTL doesn't place well there, I just meant that ND sends more grads there, on average, per year than WUSTL does. The further east you want to go, ND will likely be a better choice with the name recognition...the further west or south you go, WUSTL.mapnoren wrote:So if ND places better in Chicago than WUSTL, where do WUSTL lawyers place well? FYI - i'm from St. Louis and have have had this dilemma for quite some time, so i've looked into it quite a bit....but being from St. Louis, take my advice for what it is.

Turns out my prof is awesome: individualized the one that went directly to Yale, and the one that went directly to Harvard (and through LSAC for Harvard). so no worries.
