Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
hi new transfers to boalt,
i know someone transferring out of boalt who is looking find someone to take over the lease for his room in his house. the house has 3 other roommates, all grad students but no other law students, and its in a great neighborhood near the berkeley bowl and ashby bart station. rent is somewhere around $650/month and there is a parking space. about 10 min bike ride to school, or there are bus lines on telegraph that take you pretty close.
if you're a new transfer to berkeley and looking for housing, send me a message and i can put you in touch!

Just a quick question to you all:
Anyone got in from a low T2 or TTT/TTTT??
I'll be starting at a school ranked in the 90's and will like to xfer to Berkeley... just wanted to know if I was the only one.
Now time to top gun this semester =/

Don't plan on it.destro85 wrote:Just a quick question to you all:

That said I did my first year at SCU (ranked near the bottom of T2) and got in. Berkeley does seem to take the top few students at SCU every year though, that may not be the case at your school.

You contradicted yourself, you said "don't plan on it" but yet you seem to have gotten in?nleefer wrote:Don't plan on it.destro85 wrote:Just a quick question to you all:

Maybe what you're referring to is the "regional" school since SCU is in Cal and the markets could blend.
Though, I hear where you're coming from, this school is in the east coast but I'll still try; however, what do you say to those TTT and TTTT that have gotten in? Maybe the top students like you said perhaps do have a chance.

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
Perhaps I was too brief, let me elaborate. When I say don't count on it I mean that transferring from a low T2/TTT to T14 isn't something that happens for a great number of people. Berkeley does take a largish transfer class, so that works in your favor, but you will still need to be in the top 5 or maybe 10% of your class.
All things being equal, you have a 5% chance of being in the top 5%. You may be lucky and have a knack for law school, but that's impossible to know until after your first semester. My advice is keep the thought of transferring in the back of your mind, but don't spend a lot of time thinking about it. Work as hard and as smart as you can, earning the best grades you can. Try to make a good impression on your professors. Finally, be prepared to graduate from the T2 you are attending. Best of luck.

How well would someone have to do in order to transfer to Berkeley from Hastings? Top 10-15? But if you're already top 10-15% from Hastings, is it still worth it to transfer?

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
I'd be curious to hear any insight into this as well, but just by reading through this thread and the thread from the year before, I'd say top 5% and you have very good chances, top 5-10% and you have an outside chance, and anything past top 10% and you better have some really impressive softs or compelling reasons to be at boalt. How well would someone have to do in order to transfer to Berkeley from Hastings? I'd be curious to hear why both of you revived a 2 year old thread.
