Re: NYU Transfers
Thanks for the presumptive withdraw, transfer potential -- hopefully it helps one of us here get some good news tmrw/Monday
I, too, need to make a decision about GULC's deposit by tmrw, so I'm praying for a post 4-pm delivery of good news, or an early decision tmrw.

Re: NYU Transfers
Transcripts finally checked off, but my status still says 7/2 "Application being processed." I'm dying over here.

Re: NYU Transfers
Miles, Congrats! From your posts, it looks like they updated your status and made a decision within just a few short hours. Is that right? Also, out of curiosity, do you have a preference between NYU and Columbia (I noticed you're posting there too)?mileslibertatis wrote:I was able to log in to Admitted Students page.

Mine updated around 2:30, so of course I'm incessantly hitting refresh based on how fast your decision turned around!

I don't really know how to choose between CCN. I am interested in academia, but NYU sounds like it would be easier for my wife and I to live in nearby NJ.

Do we know how long for seat deposit and when students have to be there and all that? Sorry if this has been gone over already.

Using your LSAC# and birthday. It tells you what to do on the page. I thought I was doing it wrong but... I wasn't.PrayingforHYS wrote:Using what, the same log in ID and password as your status checker?mileslibertatis wrote:I was able to log in to Admitted Students page.

Re: NYU Transfers
So I got reeeaaallllyyyyyy tired of going back in the thread because clicking my mouse multiple times is obviously a caloric drain. As a result, I made a nice (read: strong) margarita and condensed everything into a Google spreadsheet. Feel free to add/edit/etc. as you see fit.

If you like it, you're welcome. If you don't, sorry I'm not sorry (kidding...sort of).
Cheers.

This is awesome. Thanks for putting it together.
You should send this to NYU to show them how much you want to get in.

Re: NYU Transfers
NYU is much easier if you commute from NJ. I commute from Jersey City and it's so easy and convenient via the Path train. I am door to door in 35 min. Not to mention that Jersey City is great, and rent is half of NYC. Where in NJ do you live?mileslibertatis wrote:I don't really know how to choose between CCN. Re: NYU Transfers
I was born and raised in southern NJ, but my wife and I are looking at living in Jersey City or Hoboken or somewhere because I get a housing allowance based on the school's zip code (GI Bill). So the cheaper the rent, the more money in my pocket.
But I am interested in academia and clerking and being in charge of large parts of the world, preferably like a continent or something. My extended family lives in South Jersey, my wife's family lives in southern Maryland, my parents live in Texas now (WTF, really) and we would like to start having kids. Also, I am ideologically like a cross between John Witherspoon, Antonin Scalia, and Mark Steyn, so a place like Chicago might be marginally less hostile for me.

Miles - I live in Jersey City Heights and have previously lived closer to downtown. If you're looking for any advice for where to live in Jersey City, I'm more than willing to offer it.mileslibertatis wrote:I was born and raised in southern NJ, but my wife and I are looking at living in Jersey City or Hoboken or somewhere because I get a housing allowance based on the school's zip code (GI Bill). In JC Heights, I have a nice, decent size one-bedroom that I pay $950/month for. I can get to the PATH in 5-10 min by bus/shuttle, which gets me to the 9th Street PATH stop in 10-15 minutes max. If you're looking to keep the budget to a minimum, I recommend it here, though you would not be right next to the PATH. If you're willing to spring for a nicer place in a nicer neighborhood, I definitely recommend the Grove Street PATH stop area. You could surely get a nice one-bedroom within a 5-10 minute walk from the PATH for $1250-1500.
