Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Related question: has anyone ever heard of somebody getting their acceptance revoked for a poorer 2nd semester performance? I've heard that it is possible but have never heard of a concrete example.
I also wonder how many t3 or 4 students ever get accepted EA. It seems like they'd just defer you to see if you can keep it up. I hope that isn't the case.

Would you rather be top 40% at your old school or medianish at GULC?Bankhead wrote:Not sure why if you bomb this semester you would think you could do better at a higher-ranked, more competitive school. But who knows.
*shrug*
Not a hard decision IMO if your old school is <50... probably <30.

This thread is making me nervous with all of the really well qualified applicants! I am top 5-10% at a T20, but I really want to move to DC so GULC is it for my transfer opportunities.

Did GULC send an e-mail with the status checker info? If so, how long after applying did you receive it?

There's no way I'm getting in with all of these crazy numbered applicants applying. Ah well, was a dream anyway.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
From what I can make of most of the other applicants they have a better class rank from a lower ranked school. Also I am of the opinion that those at the top of lower ranked schools would probably have similar class ranks at a higher ranked school (barring maybe really low ranked schools). I don't know if the admissions committee looks at things that way, so I am trying to remain excited about the prospect of getting into GULC without totally getting my hopes up.Big Shrimpin wrote:Srsly? The thought of applying to other schools has crossed my mind, but I really think DC is the place for me and of course applying to those schools would be contingent on spring grades that I do not have.

It does seem like everyone in here has absolutely stellar grades. Small sample size though and most people on here seem to have pretty good grades anyways.
That being said, i doubt i'll ever go complete. So - oh well.

I want to do public interest and work in politics in DC. GULC's legal rep + lay rep + LRAP + location = is there a better school out there for me outside of HYS?
Although I might want to start in BigLaw. I'd at least like to have that as an option.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
You know, I was just talking to my wife and telling her that I've come to a kind of realization b/c of this thread. It is very unlikely that I am going to be accepted to GULC, but that's o.k. Just a few years ago I was a long shot to ever come to law school. Then, starting at a t3, it was unlikely I would ever have the opportunities avaiblable to me now. I mean, I was blown away to have been waitlisted at the University of Arizona this last cycle and I was ecstatic that I was accepted to UConn. It was like a dream come true to get that letter. Now both of those schools would basically be safeties as well as schools like Emory, UMinn., WUSTL, UIUC, etc. I think I've lost perspective on how truly fortunate I am to have even had a CHANCE at GULC, let alone most t1 schools. I know a lot of it is opportunity cost vs. benefit but tbh I had no opportunities before I started down this path.
Anyway, sorry to get all epipheny-guy on this thread but just something to think about.

Don't top 5% from a T3 with good PS routinely get into GULC? I don't understand where you are getting this very unlikely from?

amen brother. Although everyone here is well qualified, everyone has a set of unique backgrounds that they bring to the table. Obviously everyone is going to have great grades, I mean why else apply? However we all have something a little different to offer, and if we get accepted woot, if not then its all good =)A'nold wrote:You know, I was just talking to my wife and telling her that I've come to a kind of realization b/c of this thread. I wouldn't be shocked to discover that a vast majority of GULC EA applicants post on TLS. I don't think you'll find many people who are aware of it outside of here.
I would not know it exists if I did not post here. I wouldn't even know much about the boons of transferring at all.

Virtually no one at my school knows that they can transfer, let alone GULC EA. Don't worry =p. This group is over-representative of the actual applicant pool.

Agree 100%. I honestly believe that and think about it this way - only the top 10% can realistically transfer from schools...I bet only 1% of that 10% actually know about transferring/want to. Certainly think that we will all do well.apper123 wrote:I wouldn't be shocked to discover that a vast majority of GULC EA applicants post on TLS. Also, in a month, I will quote your last post A'nold as well as yours that says "in at GULC" - you are taking the paranoia too far!
[by the way, still not complete. had to have my office send another and fax a copy...admissions says it will still take a few days...doing my best not to absolutely freak out]

apper- I don't know, I just don't know how I can compete with the top 20 school, top 5-10% kind of people that have posted in this thread and it just makes me think that there are like 300 other applicants out there with better stats applying EA or something. Just made me think about my situation and helped me realize that this is a long shot and that I am lucky to even be in the running and not to freak out about being denied.

I would think that top 10% from a T20 would rarely end up at GULC on a transfer.

Yeah, it's a long story but I basically had to come here b/c of my money situation and absolutely could not afford to wait another year, like, waiting another year would leave my family homeless and destitute.newyorker69 wrote:A'nold: you got in @ UConn but you're at a T3?
