Sorry to those who got deferred, just keep your head down and crush this semester! I should really follow my own advice at this point...
Anyway, I sent in my first deposit today so my motivation for finals is at about 0%.

ugh you and me both! I actually committed though so I'm like really really not feeling it. The only thing keeping me going is the irrational fear that if I do horrible enough Georgetown would revoke my acceptance.

Haha well it's pretty dang hard to fail a law school exam, so I think we're good on that front. I'm currently alternating between Type A, high-stress anxiety and "GRADES DON'T MATTER WOOOO" modes. It's a very odd place to be.

Tell me about it! I went out to celebrate a friends birthday (because why not I got into Georgetown, right?) and then at like 1 in the morning I suddenly switched into Type A mode and was like SHIT, FINALS ARE IN 10 DAYS WHY AM I AT A BAR!!? And then proceeded to call a cab to go home and then drunkenly tried to finish my Crim outline (didn't go well).

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but it's not over. You still need those grades when you interview. Graduating from Georgetown does not mean guaranteed post-grad job.HipHopAnonymous wrote:EncyclopediaOrange wrote:HipHopAnonymous wrote:EncyclopediaOrange wrote:Sorry to those who got deferred, just keep your head down and crush this semester! Someone once posted on a previous forum about OCI's at Georgetown for Transfers and said when the people interviewing saw the current school i attend's name on their resume they just laughed in the person's face. (post was from 2010 and not sure if they were being serious or not) but still scares me into studying for finals so I can at least say I did well at my first school. Even with that, not sure If i can get a repeat performance.
I also spoke to some people who did transfer from my school to Georgetown and they said they did just fine at OCI. Not sure how to feel regardless. Just know i need to keep my head down and study because FINALS IN 4 DAYS

No bubble bursting here, I know I have to do well and I'm pretty confident from my grades last semester that I have to study habits/test taking abilities to do well. It's just nice having a bit of breathing room so I can focus entirely on studying rather than stressing about my rank and transfer applications.

Agreed. All you can do now is just focus on doing well on your finals. One step at a time. This was my mantra all throughout 1L, and pretty much every minute of OCI. I think transfers do okay at OCI. They were top of their class, so nothing to look down on, and if the interviewer does, do you really want to go there? When you get to those awkward hotel room doors for OCI, chin up, smile, firm hand shake and hope for the best! Good luck. Thank god that whole year is over with. I'd like to say it gets better afterwards and in some ways it is, so there's that to look forward to!HipHopAnonymous wrote:Elfy wrote:Someone once posted on a previous forum about OCI's at Georgetown for Transfers and said when the people interviewing saw the current school i attend's name on their resume they just laughed in the person's face. I'm in the same boat. First exam in 8 hours. Do what you can, leave it all on the field (your computer screen) and trust the curve.clshopeful wrote:first final tomorrow. Anxiety that everyone has gotten 100x better at exams since fall is setting in, and I'll get median pwnd

Was deferred. Congrats to those who got in.
Feeling good about this semester. Guaranteed A in elective. At least an A- in W+R. Top of class in Property midterm and I did quite well on the final a few days ago. 1 point off the top of the class in Civ Pro II midterm and the final should be cake.
Only wildcard is Contracts II. Got a B last semester (same professor). No midterm, do or die final. Going to work my ass off for that one.
Wish me luck, guys! Hoping to see y'all in the fall.

Re: Georgetown Transfer 2016 (Class of 2018)
Do you know if it's more difficult to write on as a transfer? I know the journals reserve spots for transfers, but do a lot of transfers write on? I know it's going to be competitive, I just want to know if it's even realistic haha. It would kind of suck to not make a journal since I graded onto my current school's law review already and I obviously can't accept.jessuf wrote:Annual reminder to those who got in to do the write-on competition this summer. Being on journal will really help with OCI, especially if you are coming from a less well-known school. Also great for clerkships in the future. Just block off one full day and go to a library with your laptop and Bluebook. It should only take 4-6 hours, maybe even less.

all the transfers i know that did the write-on ended up with a journal, even if it wasn't their top choiceHipHopAnonymous wrote:Do you know if it's more difficult to write on as a transfer?
