A waitlist this late in the game seems very unlikely. Why would you want to go to a school that admits you in August when OCI opportunities have become non-existent? I think they are going to make, at most, a couple more acceptances over the next week and then ding the rest.
I agree. I just do not get why a school wouldn't ding a applicant as soon as they know they are not going to accept him. NU is basically doing the same thing.
Agreed. I can understand keeping someone UR for an extra week rather than putting them on the WL, but if a person is going to be a ding, why not just ding them as soon as you know? Soooo glad I'm not still waiting for a response from NW; that would be so frustrating.
Yea a couple of my friends are and they are going crazy. It makes no sense though, if you are not going to ding someone and not sure if you are going to accept them, at least notify them that they are on some type of waitlist. There is no reason to just let these kids sit for weeks on end without even given them some notification about what is going on.

Are dings communicated via email or on the status checker? I'm also UR2 as of 7/9 and the uncertainty is killing me :(

Maybe keeping them UR is like a priority WL - kids you'd accept right away after deposits come back. Maybe they think they'll get a better yield from kids they keep UR then accept rather than WL then accept (so those kids UR will delay doing OCI at any transfer schools they're already in at).
Idk. Some weak reasons I know, but maybe that's the thought process. Or perhaps they're actually just still considering people, which is kinda wild, since GULC gave out decisions in June and received at least as many transfer applications (deadlines aside).

Just curious, why'd you go with Columbia over NYU?

anyone could help me out with my post? http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=251265

content:"Hi everybody

I got an offer from NYU and they need my reply by 5pm Monday.

I personally prefer CLS and am waiting. missed it when CLS sent out 1st wave of offers on July 10(last friday), and missed it again This week (not sure whether it is a waive of offers, but some TLS users report they got offer on this Monday, and more importantly, yesterday (Friday) at about 5pm via e-mail)

I definitely will call CLS on Monday to see whether they could make a quick decision by that ddl.

NYU need me to send an intent to enroll form that says "I have no committment to attend another law school, will not apply to another law school, and have withdrawn my applications from other law schools to which I was admitted. I have withdrawn from the law school at which I was previously matriculated. I plan to enter the NYU in Fall 2015."
words like "committment" "will not apply" "withdrawn from schools...which I was 'admitted'" seem to suggest it's not a binding decision, but I wouldn't want to test that with my application. thought maybe I could post here to see whether others were in my shoes and what they did.

Will call both CLS and NYU office 1st thing on Monday, but time is not my friend here so I think I should post and ask. 100percent sure will transfer to NYC coz it's home. though prefer CLS, don't want to end up with neither of them (turn down NYU but also didn't get CLS)."

feel free to reply here

Definitely an argument that you can get out of this. The only language against you is the "I plan . . . . " language. You don't yet have a commitment, you aren't going to apply to another law school, and you haven't been admitted to another school. Also, unless you left it out; it doesn't specify their remedy if you do decide not to matriculate.

On the flip side, I wouldn't necessarily want to try it myself either. I guess just call and hope CLS makes a decision. If you gotta, I guess you just break the NYU commitment if you get in later.

Also, in terms of previous cycles, does anyone know how soon after the deposit deadline more acceptances, waitlists, and dings start to roll out?
There's a deposit for this Friday. The conventional wisdom from the past few years seems to be that the law acceptances come out within this week or the next, and the dings really pile on in August. However, it's possible this year is an atypical cycle, just based on what's going on in the CLS thread. Only seeing one ding in this thread so far.

UR1 on 7/2, UR2 on 7/5, UR3 on 7/9, and now today UR4 on 7/21.

I'm thinking it might be because I emailed them yesterday and asked for an expedited decision. Hopefully I'll be getting a decision soon!

^I had sent them a request for expedited review and they got back to me the next day. Probably don't want to overload them with requests right now, but they seem a lot friendlier and willing to accommodate that request than other schools.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. Did they get back to you with an acceptance? And what are your stats if you don't mind me asking?

I'm thinking I might have dug my own grave because I'm probably right on the borderline of being accepted, but I can see asking for expedited review being useful for shoe-ins. For borderline students, I have a feeling it might just be a faster ding. :|
