As am I, along with a little one.newyorker69 wrote:very good point. i just didnt want to take the chance of them putting me in parttime especially since im uprooting my wife as wellA'nold wrote:That was a concern of mine but after viewing the transferapps database it just seemed like GULC has used a good faith effort in the past to place ft. students into the ft. program. Maybe they think it shows a great desire to attend. If you think about it, if a student applies to both programs AND does EA, he/she is basically telling you that you are a dream long shot school and that you REALLY want to attend. Just a thought.newyorker69 wrote:i figured if you leave yourself "open" for parttime, GULC may accept all the fulltime-only applicants and figure since you're open to parttime, they can use you to fill all their openings.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
They just told me my transfer cert. form still wasn't there (my school claims they sent it on the 3rd). They basically told me I was fine if it got there in the next day or two but why would it? You guys think my school is sabotaging me? Any ideas of what to do?

stinger35, I was in the same boat as you not too long ago. My school told me they sent it on the 2nd but it still wasnt at GULC. I had my school send it out a second time just in case and my file was complete last friday. Don't start stressing that your school is sabotaging you because it could have been lost in the mail (plus I think schools can get in trouble for doing things like that).stinger35 wrote:They just told me my transfer cert. form still wasn't there (my school claims they sent it on the 3rd). If I were you at this point, I would go to my registrar's office and tell them the situation and ask if you can have it overnighted. That way you'll have proof (tracking) that it got there.

This happened to me but I had it sent way b/f the 3rd and just went complete last Friday. I think the forms sit in a gigantic pile in the mail room or something untill the next slough comes up to the office. I honestly don't know, just a guess as it seems to have happened to most of us.stinger35 wrote:They just told me my transfer cert. form still wasn't there (my school claims they sent it on the 3rd). Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
So do you think I should overnight the form or just wait for them to sort it out? The lady on the phone told me the deadline was not a "hard deadline" and that they will accept my application even if it doesn't arrive until next week. However, I don't see how this wouldn't put me at some sort of disadvantage as they are beginning to decide on applications. I guess if you are right about the forms though, overnighting it wouldn't help at all anyways.A'nold wrote:This happened to me but I had it sent way b/f the 3rd and just went complete last Friday. Might as well overnight it just to make sure, I'd say.stinger35 wrote:So do you think I should overnight the form or just wait for them to sort it out? Complete as well. Top 10% at a school in the 50s, one CALI Award, Ivy undergrad. What are my chances?

Not as good at a top 4% t3 grad I'd expect......CALaw5 wrote:Complete as well. Top 10% at a school in the 50s, one CALI Award, Ivy undergrad. What are my chances?

Seriously, probably decent chance, but maybe a deferal? I wouldn't think a rejection, but the transferapps group seems to be all over the place in our #'s range. Good luck!

Even with the yahoo group the sample size is way to small compared to regular admissions for anyone to make a good guess. However, I think your probably in pretty good shape.CALaw5 wrote:Complete as well. Top 10% at a school in the 50s, one CALI Award, Ivy undergrad. What are my chances?

Someone with some free time on their hands should go through this thread and compile everyone's stats in one post so we can look at them all together and assess chances/speculate, argue etc.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Hey all. I may have asked this question before in a modified form, but does anyone know if Gtown is willing to accept multiple people from the same law school as EA transfers. Is it truly all about rank/grades or do the consider not trying to accept 5 or more people from the same place. Thanks for your help!

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
question... im assuming we all did pretty well this past term if we're applying EA. lets say hypothetically we BOMB this semester and move from top 3% to top 40%. isnt going to GULC like a safety net to start all over (since your prior GPA isnt calculated into rank at the new school)?

Yeah the down part is that for OCI you still have the old gpa, which probably would be pretty awful.newyorker69 wrote:question... im assuming we all did pretty well this past term if we're applying EA. lets say hypothetically we BOMB this semester and move from top 3% to top 40%. isnt going to GULC like a safety net to start all over (since your prior GPA isnt calculated into rank at the new school)?

Not sure why if you bomb this semester you would think you could do better at a higher-ranked, more competitive school. But who knows.

^^
Well that's simple enough, sometimes you screw up just because you do, like I might screw up just because I already know I'll get in at Georgetown. Or things come up in your life or whatever.
