Do you guys think that CCN acceptances will be coming out before July 15?

Last year, Chicago made the bulk of acceptances on July 10, the last friday in the second week of July. That would be July 9 this year.Journeybound wrote:Do you guys think that CCN acceptances will be coming out before July 15?
Columbia and NYU will certainly admit some people before July 15, but they definitely admit a good portion after.

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
CLR expected 180 or so packages to be submitted for 50 or so entering slots. So, 8 out of 20-30 is roughly the same odds as the nontransfers (between one in three and one in four).beaverfuzz wrote:I'm pretty sure the e-mail meant that 20-30 transfer students participate in the write-on competition, of which up to 8 will receive offers.Journeybound wrote:I think it means that there are 20-30 students out of the entire student body that write on, and about 8 of those are transfers. That is freaken awesome.

Those of you accepted to berkeley, but waiting on HYSCCN....what are you planning on doing if you don't hear back from anywhere else by july 15th? Playing it safe and going to boalt, or waiting and trying to trade up?

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
Definitely going to Boalt. Stanford would be nice, but all things considered why turn down a Berkeley J.D. The difference between the two schools may exist, but I think it's probably not as great as this board sometimes makes it out to be.shmoo597 wrote:Those of you accepted to berkeley, but waiting on HYSCCN....what are you planning on doing if you don't hear back from anywhere else by july 15th? Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
Good luck to everybody still waiting. Also, for anyone who has been admitted, I'm happy to answer any questions you guys have about the school, courses, professors, town, campus as much as I can. I'm sure there are other Berkeley posters here who would do the same. I will say that I LOVE it here and I'm very happy I picked it.
I also can't really answer any questions about OCI because I'm not really doing it. Anything else I would probably be able to handle.

Housing advice? I will be car-less and am having trouble finding anything close enough.worldtraveler wrote:Good luck to everybody still waiting. Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
Housing is super tough, mainly because a lot of the places do not have websites and you are forced to really walk/drive around calling up the "for rent" signs. Plus, there are tons of students at Berkeley and some places have already filled up. I am also car-less, and live within walking distance. Right now, I live in Ida Jackson house, which is part of the campus housing. Also note that bus is free, so that if you have to take the bus, it is not really so bad either.JPU wrote:Housing advice? Some possibilities are:
-Ida Jackson House (grad student school housing, 1 block away)
-Manville (grad student school housing, 6 blocks away)
-International House (school housing, dorm style, mostly international students, food included, right next door)
-Telegraph Commons (3 blocks away, dorm style, but this place is mostly undergrads transfers I hear, --LinkRemoved--)
-Premium Properties (http://www.premiumpd.com/listings.php, they own some properties close by)
-Granada --LinkRemoved-- (2 blocks away)
-Cambridge Apartments (--LinkRemoved--) (2 blocks away)
Shattuck has some nice apartments/studios where a lot of grad students live, they are "walking" distance to the law school (about 7-8 blocks if you do not mind the uphill), though you can just also bus there fairly quickly . There are apartments all over the place that are close by, but you kind of have to go there to find out. Otherwise, craigslist all the way! The apartments are often cheaper (you can get singles for about 600-800 a month), but can sometimes be sketchy.
I hope this helps!

Q: What happens if you tell Boalt yes by the 15th, but don't withdraw other apps (HYS)?

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
I'd been logging in to my Berkeley status check several times a day "just in case." But I didn't today, because I had given up hope on hearing anytime soon. Then half an hour ago, on a whim, I checked and I saw:
Decision Status: Congratulations! You have been admitted.
Decision Status Date: 7/6/2010
I'm still afraid this isn't real.

Lots of softs (published, athlete in college, clubs, frat, student government) and some diversity (ethnicity and work stuff geared towards it). Got my email this morning, 7/8WesttoEast wrote:Congrats to you as well! Date under review / numbers? When did you get your email?

I never knew that being in a frat, getting drunk, and paddling dudes was a good soft. But I digress...
