Admittedly my evidence is anecdotal, and my sample size is small. But a classmate with significantly higher grades than me got rejected RD last year while I was accepted ED.EncyclopediaOrange wrote:I have no reason to doubt you, but this just doesn't seem true. I feel like Chicago can be just as selective as it wants... They'd really only be trying to get people through the binding ED who have a real shot at YHS, who don't seem like they'd apply ED anyway. Maybe to snag people from Columbia and NYU? I don't know, I'm just rambling to avoid doing write-on.n1o2c3a4c5h6e7t wrote:Yes, much.Pomeranian wrote:Curious, is ED Transfer to Chicago easier than regular traditional transfer to Chicago?

My app is still UR since 5/10. I did not receive an invite to interview. Wondering if I should just give up hope. I originally applied to UofC to begin in 2014 but was dinged, (2.7 undergrad GPA). I ended up deferring admission elsewhere for a year due to military commitment and now applied ED. Stats: 3.7, top 7-10%, local school. I also have 2 great LORs from professors and wrote a lengthy "Why Chicago" essay. Does anyone have any idea if we are just screwed if we don't get invited to interview?

If "local school" means not NU (or UIUC), then I think you're screwed with only top 7%. The only things that really matter are your current school's ranking and your GPA. Personal essay and recs don't account for much.

I think if last year is any guide, there will be several different waves of interviews and you may end up waitlisted for some period of time. They will need to find out what their yield is before rejecting any on the borderline.Dactyl08 wrote:Does anyone have any idea if we are just screwed if we don't get invited to interview?

I feel my interview went fairly well. Does anyone know the timeline, with memorial day coming up I would almost expect them to give decisions on friday. Also, I havent gotten my grades back yet and am kind of nervous, does anyone know how far you have to fall for them to renege an ED offer?

I finished my interview as well, really relieved since I've read anecdotally that the interviewer could grill the interviewee pretty hard. I had Raegan Butler, did anyone else? She's wonderful and very engaging.
As to your question, I've heard that as long as you don't drop more than ~0.2 (which I think would only happen if you decided to not try the second semester) you're fine. I remember reading this in another thread, I'm feeling a bit tired to find the source sorry (but someone else in another year had asked this question to the admissions office). I think you should be fine
I think the decisions will come out this Friday from 1-3PM or Monday (kind of doubt the Monday option as it would be Memorial Day, but who knows). Good luck everyone! Look forward to potentially seeing everyone in person.

Yeah I've seen the .2 or .3 number floated around as well. I definitely feel that I worked harder this semester and didnt drop in my performance, but my fear is people below me doing better and figuring out where they screwed up. And mine is says under review as well!! Best of luck!!KunAgnis wrote:status changed back to UR as of today... that was quick.
As for the date, 1-3 on friday seems the most logical to me as well. The other option to get it in within may would be tuesday but having three days off right before.

Im sure you killed it this semester. Booking exams is old hat for you so even if they got the trick now, you have the experience and confidence over them.Uncle Jack Kelly wrote:Yeah I've seen the .2 or .3 number floated around as well. Mine is back already. Hope we hear back by friday! When I contacted the admissions office earlier this year they said the last week of may is when they send out decisions with a June 5th deposit deadline. Historically this seems to be true. Technically we are in the last week of May!KunAgnis wrote:status changed back to UR as of today... that was quick.

At least this semester I was able to check out my Torts grade faster than my peers... last semester I was told of grade updates and that gut-sinking sensation I would hate to reliveCheddarArachnid wrote:Just one more thing to obsess over and frequently click lol.![]()
