WUSTL --> Vandy....worth the move? Forum

Vandy has an overall better brand name. Even if WUSL is a good law school. I personally, doesn't mean no one does maybe they can offer counter-opinions, have no name recognition of them other than law school. Vandy is known for medicine, business, engineering, law, etc. It is known to be one of the best institutions in the country generally. I personally think that carries a lot of weight, and it will help you in the long term.

Edit: Note: I may be a bit biased though I don't feel like I am. My half-sister got her PHD in cancer biology from Vandy. One of my classmates is making the move to Vandy if he doesn't get Michigan. (May do it even if he does get Michigan)

I agree with going to Vandy, but WUSTL has no name recognition? It's UG is highly regarded on the west coast (whereas people here don't even apply to Vandy for UG). Also, as a former pre-med, I know for sure WUSTL's med school is one of the most prestigious and hardest to get into. I believe it's ranked 6th...behind just Harvard, Johns Hopkins, UCSF, Stanford, and UPenn.

ETA: As I suspected, I just looked up WUSTL's UG rank. It's # 14. Vandy ain't bad either at #16. If anything, it seems like WUSTL's law school is ranked lower in comparison to its peers than some of its other programs.

Either way for OP, unless WUSTL throws some cash, Vandy is a slam dunk decision here.

You'll note that I did say that that was personal to me, and I offered that it might to other people. I am from SC, so that probably explains it. I probably could have saved some embarrassment by googling them though.

I did note it (if it was not implied). My intention was only to provide a counterpoint that was asked for in your post. No need to be embarrassed. I did not intend my post to be hostile at all, just more informational from a different coastal point of view. My post inferred that WUSTL's recognition may have more pull on the west than in the southeast. I'm pretty sure Vandy and all of its institutions are way more well regarded than WUSTL's in the east/southeast....which leads to the point that if OP wants Nashville, this is definitely a slam dunk.
