Seems like they just trickle out decisions. I received confirmation my app was complete 2 weeks ago and still have not heard anything.

Re: Michigan Transfer 2015
For those looking for housing,
Check out:
411 lofts
Zaragon West
Varsity Housing
I personally would stay away from:
Landmark (really nice apartments but a lot of undergrads)
Zaragon East (same situation as Landmark)
University Tower (probably the worst apartment building in AA)
Just some personal opinion after spending 4 years in Ann Arbor fwiw

Accepted on the 9th. About 95% sure I'm going to accept. If anyone is looking for a roommate, let me know! I've been looking at apartments, and 2 and 3BRs are much more reasonable than 1 BR, especially if you look a few miles outside of campus. I've found several between 2-7 miles from the law school that are very reasonable. I know we are all looking at taking on a lot more debt by transferring, so any money we can save will definitely help.

It felt like a better fit compared to my other choices. Also, transfers seem to do well at Michigan's EIW.

Hit or miss. Some crushed it and got like 7-10 interviews and multiple offers, some got only 1 offer, several struck out. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to mass-mail. Many of us got jobs that way. Mass-mailing is particularly likely to yield results in secondary markets you have ties to or are reasonably close to where you are from. Those markets don't get as many T14 applicants, relatively speaking, and generally don't get the same bombardment of resumes that NY and DC firms get. Although I know several people who got offers pretty late in the cycle in NY or DC (or 3L year) when firms in those markets realized they didn't have enough acceptances or needed more associates than anticipated.mister logical wrote:any past transfer want to weigh in on how transfers do at OCI?

Re: Michigan Transfer 2015
Agreed. My impression was that success at OCI will depend on your former school - and how well you did at that school. Obviously, the higher your rank/school rank, the better. I ended up getting a job through OCI in a major market, but also mass mailed secondary markets with success - so definitely plan to mass mail earlier rather than later, and often.eastcoast_iub wrote:Hit or miss. WRT to OCI, you should address the elephant in the room right off the bat. I would say focus on selling your experience at your 1L school, why the school in underrated and why you chose to go there (for me, cost and uncertainty about interest in being a lawyer), and then demonstrating how the choice to transfer is indicative of motivation and ambition - skill sets that are clearly beneficial for an associate at prestigious firm X. Once I got that narrative down, on about day 3, the interviewer's apprehension at the thought of hiring a transfer from a 60-70 ranked school that nobody has heard of tended to subside, and I was more successful from there on out.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
