Re: Yo Transfer N3rds, New Data
Most interesting numbers for me are T14 transfers into HYS.
Y -- 13/15 from other T14s
S -- 7/12
H -- 4/33
Anyone want to parse what that means?

Just mean Yale is Yale lol. But it's well known that HLS is much easier to transfer into than Stanford and Yale.coffeenated wrote:Most interesting numbers for me are T14 transfers into HYS.

S = T14 who transferred for academia/clerkships or maybe because they wanted back to go back to the West Coast/Family reasons
H = The GULC of the T3

Re: Yo Transfer N3rds, New Data
I think this point was raised earlier; I would speculate that H at sticker is not seen as a very good option for people who already at the top of their class at a t14. Personally, I wouldn't transfer at all if I were top 5% t14. But if I had to, it would only be to Y maybe S.coffeenated wrote:Most interesting numbers for me are T14 transfers into HYS.

I'm guessing that's what's going on.

Is anyone surprised that NYU has 50 xfers in? And that the GPA range is relatively low?

Re: Yo Transfer N3rds, New Data
I think it's hard to really judge the transfer medians because of all the different curves, but I still find this interesting especially compared with CLS. They both brought in people from a lot of the same schools so this would make it appear that NYU is a little easier to get into maybe.DiniMae wrote:Is anyone surprised that NYU has 50 xfers in? I don't think so. NYU didn't admit me on their first round but CLS did.scottidsntknow wrote:I think it's hard to really judge the transfer medians because of all the different curves, but I still find this interesting especially compared with CLS. Would be interesting to see ABA add stats for # of transfer apps / offers.

Re: Yo Transfer N3rds, New Data
How much stock can we put into these numbers though (aside from the amount of transfers accepted) because the median GPA varies so widely among schools. For example, I read that cornell and UT have medians of 3.3, but WUSTL's median is a 3.55 (or so I've heard)

GPA medians for this mean nothing, just a way for schools to show that they're not admitting complete idiots or something. It's all about your position in the class (Top X%).SowhatsNU wrote:How much stock can we put into these numbers though (aside from the amount of transfers accepted) because the median GPA varies so widely among schools. Re: Yo Transfer N3rds, New Data
Yea I mean, if we read into these numbers then it makes it look like NYU is easier to get in to than GULC, which unfortunately I don't think is true haha.cusenation wrote:GPA medians for this mean nothing, just a way for schools to show that they're not admitting complete idiots or something. Yea and even then we can't do much since we don't have enough info. Whatever, still interesting I guess.BVest wrote:BVest wrote:the 1L gpa is pretty useless unless you go through and figure out the weighted medians and top x percentages from the origin schools.

Wtf...lol. Damn, so everyone gets As? At my school, only 20% gets some sort of A. Sometimes 15%.SowhatsNU wrote:but WUSTL's median is a 3.55 (or so I've heard)

Re: Yo Transfer N3rds, New Data
Well kinda cuz A- starts at a 3.58, so that's a hair above median. Other than curving each class to between 3.50 and 3.55, profs can do whatever they want though.ManoftheHour wrote:Wtf...lol.
