What are your goals? Did you petition for the HLR?evaus wrote:also in. email. already accepted harvard . . . but tempted to renege. thoughts?
i did the hlr writing competition in may; won't hear back about it for another week or two probably. my goals are elite (preferably conservative) appellate clerkship, possibly scotus, biglaw, and eventually academia.randomstudent wrote:What are your goals? In that case, I'd be tempted to go with Yale. If you just wanted to do BigLaw, Harvard might be more comparable to Yale, but Yale has significantly better numbers for clerkships and academia. Part of it is personal preference though. I'm sure this has been debated endlessly elsewhere, but some of the commonly noted differences include:evaus wrote:i did the hlr writing competition in may; won't hear back about it for another week or two probably. my goals are elite (preferably conservative) appellate clerkship, possibly scotus, biglaw, and eventually academia.randomstudent wrote:What are your goals? Go Yale if you want to do academia
Haha as awesome as a seat on the Court would be, I'm definitely just thinking about a clerkship right now.beebee19 wrote:Actually most S.Ct. Justices come from HLS, then YLS. Both schools are great but if you're looking to land a spot on the S.Ct. someday (hey, dream big) HLS will have a slight edge. For ANYTHING else, I'd go with Yale. Big congrats.

After April 1, except under binding early decision plans, every applicant should be free to accept a new offer from a law school even though a scholarship has been accepted, a deposit has been paid, or a commitment has been made to another school. To provide applicants with an uncoerced choice among various law schools, no excessive nonrefundable deposit should be required solely to maintain a place in the class.

Probably. Either way, I think we'll hear back from Yale soon, i.e., probably within the next couple of [business] days.bethanyrose09 wrote:If three people on this board have been accepted, and Yale takes around 10 and this only board represents 10% of acceptances, I have a feeling Yale is done accepting.
