So the link to the status checker disappeared...anybody else find this odd?

That makes me feel better. I felt stupid earlier today when I was looking for it.

It's less important b/c Duke interviews everyone they eventually accept, so I guess the only utility in the checker was to see what you were lacking in your file and when you were submitted for review. Since the deadline has passed, I assume everyone is either complete or tossed out. At least that's how I'm going to rationalize this.....I need to find a replacement so that I can neurotically click on things even though I know it will change nothing...

Apologies if this is explained elsewhere, but does anyone know if a visit to campus (unilaterally planned by the applicant, and obviously not at the behest of the admissions department) that included a chat with an admissions staff member is treated the same as an "interview"--at least for the time-crunched transfer process?

Need some advice. Has anyone done the interview yet? I scheduled it for today at 1 pm but was just e-mailed back from a firm partner in my area who I reached out to weeks ago to see if I wanted to have coffee at 1:30. Should I reschedule with admissions or the partner? (she's a partner at one of my dream firms in my home market). Or do I try and squeeze both in, interview within 10 minutes and catch a cab downtown to meet for coffee?

Email the partner and tell them you have a meeting at 1 pm. Request another time that works. God damn it ain't rocket science.

ur right. I apologize. I over think things. I guess a better question to ask is what should I expect during the interview, how long, and any general advice from any who have already had one? If this has already been discussed, feel free to just post a link discussing it. Thanks in advance.

Be yourself and confident. Work into your answer as much as possible Duke. For example I want to do big law litigation in xyz and professor xyz at Duke law who I look forward to taking class would be great. Duke is your top choice and give the reasons why. It will fly by.

It was very casual and Dean Hoye is really nice! Like the previous post said just be prepared to talk about Why Duke, transferring, etc.

Is Duke just trying to cover their ass or is this for real? I had my school send my cumulative class rank last week and then sent them an email letting them know that my class rank should be arriving in the mail next week... they responded with:

"Thank you for your continued interest in Duke Law School. In order to consider your file as complete, we must receive the ranking directly from your law school. We will be on the lookout for the letter.

It is not unusual for mail to take several weeks to reach our office. Once received, allow several business days for processing."


Anyone know why it would take "several weeks" for a letter to reach their office... my dad works in the post office and said they should receive within 3 days (given where I went to school and where duke is located)

It's for real, prob b/c a lot of transferor schools process doc requests for awhile, then mail, then the transferee school receives and takes a few days to process, and then you are complete. From front to back, that can take weeks.

In all fairness, I don't think it matters. My file is complete but my school doesn't rank, so I'm waiting on Duke to receive something that will allow them to effectively gauge my rank +/- 2%, but it seems that they've sent out many/most of their acceptances, and we're pretty much screwed if we haven't at least interviewed or received a request to interview by now.
