Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
Chiming in - got the call on Monday. Was about a week turnaround from submission to call. Whee!
2% at Bay Area 30-50, 3.96, random 1L awards, no CALIs, engineering undergrad.
No info on anything related to aid yet. No email, nothing in the mail, and the call went to voicemail so I guess I haven't even technically accepted yet.

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
In via phone this morning.
T3/T4 Bay Area, 3.9, Guessing top 1-2% since top 5% cut off for fall was 3.7, 1 CALI, strong CA ties (born/ raised/ employed 10+ years)
Went "under review" on Tuesday hours after getting spring grade sheet in.
Same as above no email, status hasn't changed- only I don't even have a voice mail as record so hopefully I didn't imagine the whole thing.

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
That was me. Last two years the acceptance letter said "if you accept with us we presume you withdraw from all other schools" or some such nonsense. Their acceptance deadline is generally before Faye Deal starts making calls. I took it seriously and withdrew...apparently SLS knows this happens and accepted me anyways.shazi wrote:If you get accepted, does Berkeley make you commit early?
I remember reading that people have withdrawn from schools like Stanford before ever hearing back from them. Not sure why.
Jealous of everyone with phone calls...enjoy the transfer cycle.

Same boat as npm858…except a lower percentile. When do we get the status checkers?

Does anyone know if Berkeley gives money to transfers? I know I'm probably wishing here, but just thought I would ask.

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
I sent in my application last Thursday night. They should be receiving my law school transcript either today or tomorrow. TTTT School and my GPA is 3.75. Don't have class rankings out yet, but they said it was fine and did not have to be submitted to review my application.

They pretty much don't give money to transfers. Technically there is need based aid, but I've never heard of a transfer qualifying.

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
Any thoughts on my chances?
School: #15-18
GPA: 3.7 (guessing this is top 15-20%?)
LSAT: high 160s
Softs: 1L summer position in biglaw; strong CA ties

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
If it's UT, 3.80 or 3.81 is top 10%, but that's at graduation, so it's possible that 1L top 10% is as low as 3.7. (ETA, at the end of 1L, 3.63 is 25% and 3.34 is 50%).

Thanks. I did apply, and I'm currently under review. *crosses fingers*anonymouscal wrote: Unless your school have a very strange curve, I feel like a 3.7 should out you somewhere in the top 10%. I'd apply if I were you.

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
Hello all! I have two questions:
(1) Did anyone whose status went "under review" on 6/10/2014 hear back yet?
(2) Where would you guys place my chances at with the following credentials: T1 school (40-50); no. 3 in my class (top 1.8%); a couple of book awards; moot court; mathematics background; and one of my recommendations is from someone who graduated no. 1 from Berkeley a little while back (and who still has strong ties there).
Congratulations to everyone who has already been admitted! Hopefully I will get to join you all!

you sound like a lock based on school quality and class rank. Ash1taka apparently went under review on 6/10 and heard back on 6/16.

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
Out of curiosity, how much do you guys think undergrad GPA/LSAT numbers will affect our transfer applications?

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
Pretty sure basically not at all. the LSAT is used to gauge how you can/will do in law school, but actual law school grades are obviously a much better indicator. And I think undergrad grades are just used to gauge how hard you are willing to work. But again, performance in law school is a much better indicator of an applicant's work ethic.

Re: Berkeley Transfer 2014
I hope that is the case!
My professors want me to apply to HYSCCN, but Berkeley is my number one choice. After reading the scholarship coming out of there (especially the stuff from Prof. Eisenberg), I don't think I'd rather go anywhere else.
This wait is really bumming me out!
