I think raininthedesert was talking about Vandy and WashU as the schools OP transferring FROM, not TO.

Anyways, to answer your question, grades and class rank start over at the new school, I have not heard of a school that let you keep GPA/class rank from a lower ranked school.

Besides, why would you want to keep your GPA? Most lower ranked schools have lower curves than higher ranked schools. That's an anchor you don't want to carry with you.

Sure, the medians are lower (like 3.1 instead of 3.3, unless you're at a true TTTT). To transfer to somewhere like columbia or harvard you typically need to be top 10% of your class though. Those grades will look good regardless.

You should apply very soon. You will get into a Top 14 school. Then decide what you want to do.

You will have a better chance getting back to CA from Cal than you would from a out of state lower ranked non top 14 school.

I say that from experience... But then I went from a no-A+ school to an A+ school, so that may have played more of a role than the difference in the curve.

a few questions:

(1) Does Berkeley provide any need-based grants or any other kind of scholarship to transfers?

(2) if Berkeley doesn't give incoming 2L transfers scholarships, do they often get scholly's for 3L year?

(3) can you get into IP law from Berkeley without a hard science background?

thanks!
