A bump for this old thread, but is anyone else worried about scheduling time to complete the write-on? I start working on the 22nd...

I have a Friday-Monday off for 4th of July so I'm just going to pound it out then, since it's the longest break that I'll get before the deadline.weiweilt wrote:I have the same concern; started working in a small firm since 5/12....doctoroflaw91 wrote:A bump for this old thread, but is anyone else worried about scheduling time to complete the write-on? I'm going to squish my write on in a 4-day weekend I have thanks to July 4. Not looking forward to it, but pushing through! Good luck to everyone. Also, our registration opens up June 30th! Yay, finally.

Cheers to us, doing write-on over Fourth of July weekend. That aside, I'm very excited to meet all of you in August!CounselorNebby wrote:I'm going to squish my write on in a 4-day weekend I have thanks to July 4. I'm going to visit GULC today and ask about their OCI bidding stuff.

Just talked to the GULC career office. We will receive emails about the Early Interview Program sometime next week.

GULC's OCI bidding period ends in July! That's way too early!

When would you expect it to end? Interviews start 8/11 and there has to be time for employers to review applications and students to be notified of interviews so that they can turn them down if they want and allow alternates to be added.weiweilt wrote:GULC's OCI bidding period ends in July! What if you apply to another school (say CLS) and get in after the bidding deadline at GULC? August 1st makes more sense if "double-bidding" is unethical.BVest wrote:When would you expect it to end? Then I guess bidding at more than one school is fine as long as you only participate in one school's OCI?

Plus, with a number of us already decided to do the write-on over the July 4th weekend, there is no way for us to find out about the journal placement before July 7th, the deadline to submit your resume for employers to select.BVest wrote:When would you expect it to end? Can transfers live in the on-campus housing?

Re: Georgetown Transfer Class of 2016
Few questions for anyone that can help:
1.) Where do we sign up for classes online?
2.) Can we speak to academic advisors after sending in the deposit?
3.) How do we know which classes we are required to take at GT, as opposed to "electives"?
4.) How do we sign up for OCI stuff?

I was admitted early, so perhaps I can help with at least some of your questions.heavoldgotjuice wrote:Few questions for anyone that can help:

We can't sign up for classes yet. Registration opens (I believe) at the end of July for transfer students. Once you have paid your deposit, you are welcome to meet with academic advisors. A few weeks ago, I met with both academic services and career services and both were incredibly helpful.
I know for me personally, I need to take Con Law (which is a 2L class at my old law school) and Crim Pro (because I would like to partake in the clinics). See here for requirements, and note below that some are not required of transfer students: http://www2.law.georgetown.edu/campus-s ... uirements/
You should have access to the Georgetown Symplicity website as soon as you get your log-in information (Net-ID, etc.). Once you have access to the site, you should be able to view OCI materials under the OCI tab.
Hope this helps!

Our netid credentials do not get us logged into simplicity. Unless I just haven't been given access yet (probably because I haven't paid my deposit).

Re: Georgetown Transfer Class of 2016
My question is...for someone who has access, how many DC firms are coming to GULC OCI? I may be deciding b/t GULC and another school outside of DC who has a significant number of DC firms coming to OCI and wanted to know if one could provide that information since I don't have access yet.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Georgetown Transfer Class of 2016
I'm not quite sure how many individual firms are coming but there will be 577 offices offering interviews to Georgetown students. On Symplicity, most firms require a single bid for a single office. So for instance, if Venable has offices in D.C., Baltimore, and Chicago, those count as three separate bids.

Email admissions. If there is one it will be managed by them.Jetsfan24 wrote:Is there a Facebook group for admitted transfer students? Trying to scope out possible roommates to save on $$

Re: Georgetown Transfer Class of 2016
Hi all,
I am on the waiting list at GULC. Does anyone know how often they are rendering decisions? I heard the OCI deadline is also early in July, and would hate to be admitted after that.
Thanks!
