Re: Chicago Transfer ED 2012
My guess is if the application becomes available on LSAC on the 18th, which it looks like it will, the deadline will be the 18th of May, or thereabouts. The dates on the Chicago website are from last year, but this year's are supposed to be similar: "The dates for the 2012 transfer application process have not yet been updated, but please use last year's dates for guidance on the timeline (this year's dates will be similar)."Sapientia wrote:Hm. While the transfer process is expedited, I can't imagine it's only going to be 2 weeks. Just speculation though..

I think it will go up tomorrow. Cannot even get the required forms to Chicago in two weeks. USC did the same thing and the application opened up much earlier.

Good luck everyone. I applied Chicago ED last year from a T2 in the 60s; got deferred ED and eventually rejected RD. Feel free to PM with any questions about the transfer process.

Re: Chicago Transfer ED 2012
Website says they want the first semester transcript sent through LSAC. Has anyone done this already? Is there a form to print out to send along with the transcript? Looked around the LSAC website, but of course everything is geared towards regular admissions. Thanks.

Go on to LSAC, go to my school list, and delete every application that you have on your list, and hit refresh. Everything will be solved.

Transfer Website has updated their dates: http://www.law.uchicago.edu/prospectives/transfer
Looks like both ED and RD apps will open on 4/15.

Re: Chicago Transfer ED 2012
How important do you guys think it is to apply early (around April 15) as opposed to waiting until finals are done (after May 5). Do you think UChi looks more favorably on the earlier applications it receives? Or would you say that since we're applying ED it doesn't really matter?

Good luck to everyone. If you're top 5% or so at a T40, think really hard about whether giving up the shot at HYS (with the attendant need-based aid) makes sense.

Well, last time LSAC released apps on 4/1 they came out exactly at midnight CST, so I'm going to bet it'll release in about 5 minutes.

Do we need to put the hours at each position on our resumes

Re: Chicago Transfer ED 2012
I was wondering about that also. It's not clear if we need to indicate hours for our anticipated summer work only or for all past work experience.jarofsoup wrote:Do we need to put the hours at each position on our resumes
I'm just going to tweak the resume a bit and add the hours for each of my past positions.
EDIT: I misread it. I think they actually want hours for all work experience AND "activities", meaning extracurriculars....

Re: Chicago Transfer ED 2012
Does anyone know where the "Law School Information Form" is? Where from LSAC do we get it? (I know it says it can be downloaded from LSAC) But it has to be submitted/emailed directly from our school to uChi?

Go to the "Forms" tab on the actual application and there should be link to a PDF.

Any reason to NOT go ED as a top 1% at 50sish?

Re: Chicago Transfer ED 2012
That's the range where HYS is plausible, but not terribly likely (because the school is too low-ranked). Tough call. At a 50ish, I'd go ahead and ED Chicago... but just be aware that if you get into Chicago and end up repeating your performance, you're going to "what-if" yourself for a long time, heh.mileslibertatis wrote:Any reason to NOT go ED as a top 1% at 50sish?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
