also, don't underestimate the social aspect..transferring with such a marginal increase in job prospects at the expense of losing all of your friends/professor connections isn't something to take likely (it was one of my major considerations when deciding whether to transfer). while it's not impossible to make friends at your new school, it's much more difficult, especially since for the first month or so most people are traveling for CBs and you're trying to get acclimated to a new environment and new classes, traveling yourself, etc.
but to answer OP's original question, i would say at least top 30% but more likely top 20% to feel comfortable. i think the idea that "lateral" transfers like this require only above median grades is a misconception. ad comms don't want to take someone who may be unemployable just because they did okay at a better school. if it comes down to you with top 40% grades from MVP or the guy with top 5% grades from a T1, they're probably going to take the latter.

Re: What rank needed to transfer MVPB --> CCN?
Top 1/3 from the T14 is enough for a transfer to CCN. Know several people who have done it with those grades.
If this sounds lax---it's because very few people transfer out of T14's. One person in my section of 60+ transferred, because his SO got a job in another city. Aside from YHS, the job-related benefits are nil and the social impact is pretty substantial (people are a lot cliquier 2L and 3L and it's harder to make friends as a transfer).
