Yeah the downtown area is awesome (the Grove Street area, NOT the Journal Square area). The ride was about 12-13 min to NYU. Safe area also, which was pretty important to me, since my walk is about 6 or 7 min to the PATH station.

Found sweet 3-br a 5 min walk from Grove Street PATH station. $900/month/roommate.

See what I mean? Half the price of most NYU housing, in a wonderful area, with easy access to the school, yet NYU would NEVER advertise these options since the $$ doesn't come back to them.

Well, the NYU housing is $1200ish/month, no? (And they have a bunch of resources for people who are looking for off-campus housing: http://www.law.nyu.edu/housing/offcampu ... /index.htm.
Still sizeable difference, though, you're right. And really quite convenient.
Of course, looks pretty easy to get 6 or 700/month in Queens....

1200 a month? The very cheapest option I saw was 1300+, and those went immediately since they were the least expensive. The majority of options seemed to be in the 1500-2000/month range.

Also don't forget: the nyu housing rate includes cable/internet/all utilities + a 24 hour doorman - and you are RIGHT in the village. Oh and it's only a nine-month commitment, which is crazy awesome. It really is a pretty solid deal if you can get it.

Yeah, I just had to approve of some policies and agreements, and then set a new password. The email account looks like it is just gmail-based. I'm gonna have it forward to my current email, and it should be all set.

It was where the NetID pages directed me to. I don't recall clicking anything to specifically set up my email account. Nothing seems blocked or restricted anymore so the option is definitely there

Thanks, I am really psyched!! I have been waiting all summer for this...BUT what do ya mean?? Any details why I'm good on all fronts? I can't get through to career services so how do I get an interview? Do you have a bid list? Or a list of firms available to us newcomers? I'm still laughing at your post.

Yon don't get the list of firms until after you enroll. You will have a full opportunity to bid on anyone, and are at no disadvantage compared to continuing NYU students. I believe the bidding for us will take place between August 8-10, with results coming up on the 11th.

I believe they said they would be sending us Symplicity credentials by the end of the week. If I don't get them by mid-afternoon, I will give them a call just to make sure. Not messing around with anything regarding EIW
