Current Law School: T25
UG GPA: 3.94
1L GPA: 3.70
1L Rank: top 7%
Honors: Law Review, 1 CALI
Michigan: Accepted, attending
Penn: Rejected
Happy with results, as Michigan has always been my dream school, though it would have been nice to have gotten into Penn, as well.

yep - just started today. the grading is a lot less note-focused than wisconsin's, so hopefully illiterate me will stand a chance.TransferRisk wrote:I remain impressed and hopeful (given my very similar numbers). Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
Agreed with the last post.
Judging by the admissions decisions at UPenn I have seen, I was treated disfavorably because I submitted far later than the #6 at our class, even though I was #1.
Some great feedback on this thread for next year's group.

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
Just thought I'd give some help to the TTTT's out there....
TTTT, top 10%, law review invite, from FL but went to 1L in New England
UF- In
FSU- In
Cardozo- In
Saint Louis- In (withdrawn)
Stetson- In (withdrawn)
UConn- In
Wake Forest- Rejected
Fordham- Rejected
I was pretty shocked at how successful my cycle was. Couldn't be happier with my options. Got a lot of helpful/interesting info off TLS over the last couple years so hope this helps someone out there.

T2 in the 50's - Top 15%
LSAT - 161
GW - Accepted 7/8
Columbia - Accepted 7/13
Georgetown - Denied 7/19
Fordham - Denied 7/28
NYU - still under review
Completely shocked I got into Columbia. You never know what the admissions board is looking for in transfer students so it never hurts to apply!

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
@spintk: Sorry to read of your results. In retrospect, do you wish that you had applied to more schools as a transfer--especially South Carolina & any Tier Two law schools ?
Seems like you applied to three law schools that are quite hard on transfers. In my opinion, you deserved different results.

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
1L school: T25
1L gpa: 4.0
3 top grades, 3 years WE, grad degree (and the debt to go with it)
LSAT: 179
undergrad gpa: 3.5
Berkeley: accepted
Harvard: accepted
Stanford: accepted (attending)
I applied pretty close to the application deadline for all three schools, but I had some good personal reasons for wanting to be in the Bay Area which I think helped my Stanford app.

T70, top 1%, 1 CALI, law review, strong softs
Accepted: Michigan (attending) 7/1
Rejected: NU 7/25, Chicago 7/29
Recommend getting your letters in early and having all materials ready for your 2nd semester grades. And be patient; these schools move at their own pace. Admissions and OCS at Mich were amazing.

Re: Final Transfer Stats 2011
T25, top 10%
NYU - Accepted (Attending)
Penn - Accepted
Columbia - Rejected
Tips:
-Get all the supplementary forms in early so that, when grades come out, all you need to complete your application is send in an updated transcript. I applied to Columbia much later than the other 2 schools due to a delay in certain documents, and they were only school that rejected me. Sure, it just might be a coincidence, but getting everything in early only would have increased my chances
-Ask for LOR's early, or at least get a feel for who would be willing to help you out well in advance. Waiting on this can be killer, and it ties into the point above
-Do a thorough consideration of all factors involved, and don't just blindly transfer since the new school is ranked higher. This is a stressful and draining process, and you have to make sure its something you truly want/need.
