I have also been trying to sort this out. OCS told me they need my HLS ID# before sending bidding info. As far as I know, I have only been assigned a username and email account. Does anyone know where to find this ID#?D.Wilde wrote:Oh, and does anyone know how we're supposed to start doing the EIP bidding or picking courses? UPDATES!
So, I spoke with both the Office of Career Services and the Registrar's Office.
Regarding EIP, we should be receiving an email later tonight which will give us a temporary password to access EIP bidding until our ID numbers are generated. Also, there will probably be a meeting at HLS for transfers regarding the EIP process on Thursday at 5:00. For those of you who are not already in the area, you should be able to call in. Finally, the deadline to submit your resume for review by the OCS has been extended for transfer students only, so if you email your resume to the main OCS email address, they will add it to the pile of resumes they're going to review. Again, info on all of this should be coming out later tonight.
Regarding course selection, the woman who is apparently responsible for transfer course selection is on vacation this week, so we should be receiving information about this at some point next week.
Cheers!

Awesome post- thanks D.Wilde. It looks like the email just went out with everything we need for EIP.D.Wilde wrote:UPDATES!

Cool. If it's not just one of us, it's likely all of us. Probably a problem with the temporary password they gave us or something. I also emailed OCS.

I think they provide suggestions overall. Formatting, action verbs, working with you to come up with more descriptive summaries of your experiences...
Personally, I'm waffling between the "blocks of text" format and the "bullet-points" format, so I'm hoping to get OCS's insight on this issue.

Re: Official Harvard Law School Transfer Class of 2012
Hey guys,
Sorry to jump in and spam you all but I'm a rising 2L at HLS now. A buddy of mine who is now a rising 3L transferred in from the University of Florida last year. We were all set to move in together this fall but, after signing a lease in the spring, I've decided to move in with my girlfriend (I know, I know, pretty uncool). So, I'm looking for someone to take over my lease and Mike, my semi-roommate, suggested that I get in touch with the transfer students because you might be looking for housing. If any of you are, feel free to let me know. My email's klake@jd12.law.harvard.edu. It's one of the buildings that's in high demand that you can really only get as a 2L or 3L because they rent them out so fast. It's a five minute walk door to door to the law school. It's an awesome place. Let me know if any of you are interested or if you have any other questions about Cambridge/HLS/good places to look for housing/etc. Welcome to the Class of 2012!
Best,
Kevin

Ok, executive decision time! Let's plan on getting together for dinner/drinks on Friday, August 6 at 7:00. As to a location, my initial suggestion would be Redline, as it has good drinks, good food, a wide price range, and it's not so loud that we won't be able to hear each other.D.Wilde wrote:Anyone have a preference for next Friday or next Saturday?
If others would like to propose alternate venues, I'm definitely amenable to an alternate locale.
Please let me know ASAP whether you plan to attend, so I can call ahead and make reservations.

To the new transfer admits:
I transferred in last year and would be happy to answer any and all questions you might have regarding EIP/class selection/HLS/Cambridge, etc. I'll also be back in Cambridge starting this weekend, so if anyone would like to meet up and discuss the upcoming madness that is EIP and 2L year, definitely let me know and we'll set up a get together. PM me and I'll give you my e-mail.
Congrats, and welcome!

Re: Official Harvard Law School Transfer Class of 2012
course registration at hls has already occurred earlier in the summer.
however, as a transfer student, you will all get the wonderful benefit of getting into basically any class you want (they reserve spaces for transfers). so, choose wisely -- research professors, and be sure to shoot for classes that are with popular professors, etc. because they will be much more difficult to get into after this initial registration.
as for the details, don't worry about the nuts and bolts yet. the school will take care of you regarding registration when the time comes. what you can do now is research the classes/professors, and try to plan which basic courses you'll be taking throughout the two years at hls. (note: basic courses, not every course).
if anyone has questions about certain profs, shoot me a pm.

Ok! Last call to let me know if you're coming. I'm going to call the restaurant this afternoon to try to get a reservation. As of now, we've got 4 -5 people (myself, Concurrent Fork, Salted5+ Roommate, and potentially Aguacaliente). Of course, if you're in the area, you should feel absolutely free to drop by regardless (we'll find a way to grab another table or pull up a chair)!Salted5 wrote:I'll be there, bringing my roommate who is also a transfer student.
Looking forward to meeting some of you soon!

Sounds good - I will have to duck out around 8 to pick up my gf at Logan, but I (or both of us) can come back after if you guys are still there.

Do you guys know when your tuition payments are due for the first semester? I have a funny feeling that we (the people who are still waiting to hear from Harvard) will receive our rejection letters on that date.

I was told that we're on a later billing cycle than regular students and not to worry too greatly about it, so that may not be for a while.EggShellPlaintiff wrote:Do you guys know when your tuition payments are due for the first semester? Re: Official Harvard Law School Transfer Class of 2012
Well, the first transfer get-together was awesome! The 5 people who were in attendance had some great conversation, some good drinks, and got to listen to my best impression of Kathleen Turner, and yes, I'm a guy (my voice was shot, and it completely died by the end of the night).
So.... time for Round 2! Here's my proposal:
Friday, August 13, 7:00 PM
Grendel's Den (We finished last week's gathering here, so I figure we might as well start this one right where we left off. Also, cheap food and drinks and a great atmosphere.)
89 Winthrop St, Cambridge, MA 02138
Again, if anyone has a different suggestion, feel free to let it be known. Also, if people think another get together isn't really in order before we all meet on the 20th, that's fine too.
If you're interested in coming, please post here.
