Re: Stanford
Congrats!!! It's a tough choice and either way seems you will be equally fine. But starting all over is a challenge: just imagine how we would think of students transferred in our old schools. Again, either way you are good.arstech wrote:^^ Thank you for the kind words, although I'm not sure that's really accurate
Not sure if I'm going to transfer for the reasons you just suggested. I have some thinking to do this weekend... If I decide not to go, I promise I'll withdraw immediately to help you guys out.

Re: Stanford
Out at Stanford. Not surprising. Would have been an epic transfer. I'm still impressed/excited that I got into Michigan: from a T3 (soon be a T4 school) to top 10 -- I can handle that
Good job to everyone who made Stanford!

snail mail Letter.traydeuce wrote:Hard copy letter or e-mail?
I live a few hours from the school so it probably got sent out recently
Edit to add: it said in the letter "we have a greater than usual number of students returning from leave, our space in the second year class is limited. As a consequence we are able to admit only a few transfers this year and we are sorry that we will not be able to accommodate you."

Accepted by phone on late afternoon Friday, July 16th, and got the packet in the mail today.
From school in 40s, top 1%.
Good luck to all!

Just curious...about how many transfers does Stanford accept each year?

Re: Stanford
I believe ~12. However, if Stanford only accepts transfers to fill vacated spots then I would infer from the rejection letter that SLS will accept fewer this year.calawbiz wrote:Just curious...about how many transfers does Stanford accept each year?

Who here is set on going to SLS next year?
also, if there are any current SLS students out there that can PM to get me some insight on the coming year, I would very much appreciate it.

I still have not heard from Stanford. Am I just waiting for a rejection via snail mail? My app went complete pretty late but I'm thinking all the offers were already made. Thoughts?

Re: Stanford
Same here, not really sure what's going on. Hopefully we're still being considered, but it looks like most if not all acceptances have already gone out.

I am like 90% sure that I am going to withdraw [my acceptance] today or tomorrow. I wouldn't take your name out of the hat just yet—you could be next on the list.sandiego wrote:I still have not heard from Stanford. Am I just waiting for a rejection via snail mail? FYI -- I just called the admissions office. My application is STILL under review and they are hoping to finish the decisions by the end of the month. Just delaying the inevitable.

Re: Stanford
Still under review is a good thing. I got rejected straight off the mark. I assume, to be still under review means that they didn't want to drop you before the acceptances/declines were received. I think you are in a good position.sandiego wrote:FYI -- I just called the admissions office. My application is STILL under review and they are hoping to finish the decisions by the end of the month.
