Woops... for some reason in my head American = Catholic. Weird.
I would transfer, but I don't care too much about debt. It's definitely a step up, but whether it is a large enough step to be worth the money is for you to decide. What's the difference in total cost of each?

Re: University of Baltimore or American WCL
All in, American would come out to 12k more per year. I will be fortunate enough to come out of either UBalt or American without any debt or student loans. My biggest concern with the UB degree is being stuck in Baltimore. I know that both UB and AU are considered regional schools, but most people would tend to agree that a JD from American is more portable. 24k more for the ability to move outside of Baltimore City? A reasonable investment? (considering retake and reapply is no longer an option)
(and yes, I did put down the seat deposit last month. At that time I didn't know if I would make Law Review or get any money from UB)

If you have no debt at all and will not be facing any debt, and you don't want to be stuck in MD/Balt I would transfer I mean what do you have to lose really, you are unlikely to get a job from either school through OCI, I would just transfer and network as much as possible in DC.

Transferring from Baltimore to American because American has more portability would be like playing for the Pirates and demanding a trade to the Nationals because the Nationals have a better chance at the playoffs.RonZesty wrote:All in, American would come out to 12k more per year. It sounds to me like you already know what you want to do. You want D.C. and you want to transfer to American. Those of us telling you to stay (including a former UBalt student who decided to transfer) are unlikely to sway you. It sounds like you've got the money to pay for it and you'll avoid taking out debt, which is definitely a great factor in your favor. Getting a decent job as a transfer at American is likely going to take a lot of hard work and some serious luck.
Even though it seems that Baltimore the better option financially and career-wise, I think you sound like you're going to end up at American, so good luck to you there.
