On another note, I was told that my grades are "very competitive" and t14% is just like top 10% by the head adcom at a school I am applying to, so maybe all schools aren't the same in this regard.

Yeah, the distinction above could be made by one school but certainly not by others. All I know is that this year is, according to one Admissions office, is very competitive all around, and even those who previously might have been "autoadmits" may not get in. Either way, let's just say you didn't fail in law school, and your numbers give you a great shot of getting into AT LEAST ONE of the schools you want to get into.On another note, I was told that my grades are "very competitive" and t14% is just like top 10% by the head adcom at a school I am applying to, so maybe all schools aren't the same in this regard.

I tried to write on, and haven't heard yet. If I make it I am probably staying. If I don't I'm going. It matters a great deal to me.A'nold wrote:Nope, missed it by like 4 people. Decided "writing on" at my school (where the professors I've talked to say that LR "isn't a big deal here") wasn't worth it. I know I'd be much happier doing moot court anyway, since I plan on doing trial work upon graduation. I would take LR just for the credential, but am not a big fan of LW in the first place, so I was kind of relieved not to have to make that choice.Danteshek wrote:A'nold: were you able to get onto LR?

says the guy from msu.sparty2L wrote:I thought this website was called "Top Law Schools"... Don't really think the possibility of being able to transfer from a T3 to a T2 in a city where it is dominated by another school fits the bill...

Yeah, that makes total sense. If it was b/w my school and LR or, say, Pepperdine, even if the $ was similar, I'd take the LR. But when we are talking you staying with LR at your t3 or going to, say, GW, I think the calculus changes quite a bit.Danteshek wrote:I tried to write on, and haven't heard yet. Oh Heart, let's refrain from the potty language please.
In regards to the MSU joke, I'm not constantly posting about transfering to non T-50 schools. Plus, I have a few T14 transfer acceptances in my back pocket so let's chill out a little and be cordial.

Admissions offices always say crap like this. There is no rational reason why transfers would be more competitive this year than previous years. Even in good economies, it's not like students didn't want better job prospects.prncaspian3 wrote:All I know is that this year is, according to one Admissions office, is very competitive all around, and even those who previously might have been "autoadmits" may not get in.

I would be honored to end up at the same school as A'nold. I hope I do. He obviously is serious, and we're in similar situations regarding the family situation, etc.

cordial it is. i'm just saying don't put the poor guy down, it is what it is, and i think A'nold knows his situation better than anyone. and congrats on the T14 acceptances. that is quite an achievement, especially if you have multiple.

I have a hard time seeing how it wouldn't be worth it to at least take a shot at the write on competition at any school whether it be a T4 or T14. That's just me though.A'nold wrote:Nope, missed it by like 4 people. Decided "writing on" at my school (where the professors I've talked to say that LR "isn't a big deal here") wasn't worth it. I mean, I wish you the best of luck, but ever since the Western world switched to the decimal system thousands of years ago, the numbers 5 and 10 have meant a lot to people. Maybe if we had a base 14 system instead of a base 10 system, things would be different for you. All I know is that if I were bent on leaving your school with your numbers, I'd apply to more places. I mean, I applied to Georgetown EA with virtually zero desire to go there, just because it was an absolute lock and I wanted to be absolutely sure I'd make it out of that school.

A'nold: I feel for you, and I hope you get in somewhere. But a question: have you written anything on here that adcomms would take issue with? Have you badmouthed your old school? Said offensive things? There's no doubt in my mind some adcomms read these sites (some have admitted this to me before), and you've repeated your stats many times that it would not be too difficult for them to figure out who you are.A'nold wrote:A few hours, to be exact.thexfactor wrote:he s on the wastern standard time... lol
He will post within the hour...![]()
I feel bad that I am constantly commenting on my cycle, but I will admit that yesterday was especially devastating. Solidsnake, even though we were joking around, actually made me feel better by telling me not to worry since we "haven't even reached the halfway point yet."
Then, last night when I was talking with my wife, we both got excited because UW reads files in a committee and within mere days sends all of their decisions. This decision is crucial for us and it is good to know whether it will be a yes or no within the week.
As for complaining: What was up w/ Hastings yesterday? T2, top 20% applicants, come on down, t3 top 10%, come on down, t3 14%.....f u? A lot of t2 top 20% being accepted at Emory, WUSTL, and Minn. too. I have a kind of sick feeling that there is something wrong with my application package.....
Edit to add: for anybody that thinks we are being unreasonable, think about this. It's not that we are unhappy about our school CHOICES, we actually don't have ANY choices right now, lol. It's hard, especially when you have a family to think of, to wait until the end of July for a decision about where you are going to live (like sami said above), get your crap in a Uhaul, and get an apartment in a span of like 4 days, not to mention deal with OCI stuff, financial aid, etc.
Now, we know we signed up for this when we decided to transfer. However, seeing tons of peeps getting accepted to the schools you are waiting on, especially when they have similar or even lesser #'s than you, is unnerving.

Okay, bear with my extreme hypothetical here, has anyone considered taking a year off and reapplying as a transfer next year? any idea how that would look or if it is even possible?

Sorry if this is common knowledge as I normally just lurk here and post updates to my own stuff for future readers, but do you mean University of Washington? That place is fantastic. Hope you land it. They are, more than some other spots, interested in hearing about why Seattle is good for you (great regional school, etc.). Maybe an LOCI about that specific topic could help if your PS didn't talk much about it.A'nold wrote:thexfactor wrote:he s on the wastern standard time... lol

Yeah, they are a very cool school and very much care about your local interest.sigmachiev wrote:Sorry if this is common knowledge as I normally just lurk here and post updates to my own stuff for future readers, but do you mean University of Washington? Feel free to PM me if you have questions or want to brainstorm ideas. I did undergrad at UW and know the Seattle legal market pretty well. Happy to help.A'nold wrote: Yeah, they are a very cool school and very much care about your local interest.
