Yeah. I don't know if having it in the middle of the summer is better than having it during the first week of classes/interviews. I guess this is better. And, we get the results back before interviews.

Re: Berkeley transfer class of 2012
I'd definitely rather have it now than during classes and interviews. Even though I'm finishing my internship and moving out of my current apartment this week, I still think classes + interviews will be 10x busier.Journeybound wrote:Yeah. Ya I am trying to turn something in but am really having a hard time with it. I was initially pumped about it being earlier than expected but this week has been brutal (work + moving out + old friends in town + laziness),

^^ Totally agree. I'm feeling sort of pot-committed since I mailed off the editing packet, but these next few days would be soooo much easier if I didn't have to finish the casenote

Re: Berkeley transfer class of 2012
Yeah, the note is what is killing me. I'm so nervous that I'm doing it wrong.
I'm heading out on August 8th. My wife, however, is out there right now looking for a place. Since I'm married, I think that we are going to get a place a little further out from campus. In fact, it looks like we might get a place at Marina Bay, Richmond. It's about a 20 minute commute, but it's right right on the water (literally) with views out of every window looking at a marina full of sail boats. It's amazing. I plan on using my motorcycle to make the commute. It sounds like there is good motorcycle parking right in front of the school. Do you know if I need a permit to park there?
What are your plans?

Re: Berkeley transfer class of 2012
I am car-less so I am worthless on the parking scene. I haven't bought a flight yet but have housing all lined up. Another transfer from my original school and I got a 2 bedroom 3/4 mile from boalt. I have to be out there for the on the 10th and am still debating on how long before that I am going to arrive.
What are you doing about classes? It seemed like most had openings but I haven't really looked too closely. It is my understanding that we don't schedule till orientation on the 13th then classes start the 16th. Seems like a tight window to buy books and get the initial assignments done but I'm just happy they are letting me in so it will work out somehow.

Re: Berkeley transfer class of 2012
Yeah. It actually looked like about 10 spots were saved in each class. I'm hoping that all of those are open for transfers. I haven't looked into it much further than that. But we should probably have an idea of what our schedule should look like so we can register during Orientation.
How do you guys feel about OCI? Honestly, I feel like we are going to do pretty decently if we plan on working in CA. First, I think that our grades will help define us in comparison to those who are non transfers. So there won't be any of the "as a transfer employers will view you as a 3.4" crap. They will know that we've proven ourselves and can focus on our interview instead. Also, it looks like we can get quite a few interviews. I've been hearing that we can get around 20 interviews. Plus, if we are willing to skip classes for interviews, we can grab spots that are open and get a few more. That's not bad at all. And, Berkeley is #2 in CA. =p. AND, the SF market pays 160k just like NYC (with better weather and lower COL).

So, did anyone else actually count the errors they found in the editing packet to make sure it's within the range? I just did and now I have a headache.

I tried counting the errors, then I gave up. I did my best, and I don't think that I could do much better. Well, maybe. I don't want to think about it.
On another note, I had no clue that New Courier is such a large and spacious font. The 18 page limit just got a LOT shorter.

I won't be in Berkeley until next Wednesday because of work, but would love to meet up before classes begin! Also, if anyone needs a roommate, send me a pm.
