That's good that they like a good story. I have quite a life story that they might be interested in, as long as, like you said, I meet the minimum grade requirements.

Current Boalt transfer here. One of the best decision's I've ever made.
Also, re deadlines. I got all my stuff in on the last day, and was admitted the day after via email. So just get it in!

Between you and Arrow, Boalt transfers really seem to love the decision.hroark wrote:Current Boalt transfer here. One of the best decision's I've ever made.

Had a few questions for you if you don't mind:hroark wrote:Current Boalt transfer here. One of the best decision's I've ever made.

Where did you transfer from? How did you do at OCI? Where do you plan on working after?
I'm an east coast boy who wants to stay on the east coast to work. I want to work in DC. However, I've always wanted to spend some time in California, and 2 years there sounds really appealing.

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
OCI: I would say your transfer status doesn't matter, but your grades matter. Obviously, transfers have good grades, but some are #1 or #2 in their class, while others are in the top 5-10%. The better your grades, the better you'll do at OCI.
I think those who really want to do business or corporate law will do great at OCI, and if you don't really want to go into that area of law, it might be difficult. OCI was definitely difficult for the whole law school, but I don't think transfer students did any worse than the general population.

i guess i don't get how they are reviewing your app w/o your second semester grades? e.g. BC didn't even provide a status checker for me until the 2nd semester grades get in.JPU wrote:Just got the e-mail acknowledging app received and with status checker stuff this morning, anyone else?

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
status checker just says "received" not in review. So presumably they haven't begun reviewing it. I was just wondering if anyone else had gotten this e-mail this morninglawyer180 wrote:i guess i don't get how they are reviewing your app w/o your second semester grades? e.g. BC didn't even provide a status checker for me until the 2nd semester grades get in.JPU wrote:Just got the e-mail acknowledging app received and with status checker stuff this morning, anyone else?

I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but I'm looking to get specific....
Would a top 10% GPA at t20 give me a very good chance at boalt? Or just an ok chance.

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
I was wondering how long you guys had to give your decision. If I was able to somehow get in but was told before July, I would be in a pretty tough spot. While I love Cali and would be stoked to live there for two years, I ultimately want to practice back east and would probably prefer Michigan, Northwestern over Berkeley, though it would be a really tough call.
Just wondering if I should skip the app all together to avoid the problem. (My chances are pretty low anyways)

From what I hear, they give you some time, they take a while to send the packet and its not due till the packet is received (this is just what one guy told me, maybe they were just late with him).stinger35 wrote:I was wondering how long you guys had to give your decision. And Ive dropped to top 10% now, so hopefully that didn't totally kill my chances.

How long did it take to receive your status checker? I submitted on Monday and still haven't heard anything.

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
Submitting my stuff through LSAC tomorrow. We just got 2nd semester grades and haven't gotten our rank yet, so I don't know when my official transcript will get there.
I hope I'm not at too big a disadvantage for getting stuff in so close to the deadline....

Yup. Which is weird because i don't think my letter of good standing is there yet. My chances are probably 2% anyways though.Journeybound wrote:Anyone under review as of today?

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
I think that they will make a decision without the letter of good standing. People are saying that they will decide even with an unofficial transcript. Anyways, it sounds like decisions will be going out this next week! Good luck=p

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
Good luck guys. My rank absolutely plummeted but then so did the rest of my section. It is official that we were section stacked as well. Only 4 students in the top 16 are in my section. I think the first ranked student in my section is like 7th ranked overall. My rank puts me in the top 6% of my section but like top 15% overall. It is a very somber situation at my school right now for my section. Last semester, the other section was curved to a 2.9ish and we were curved to a 2.67. This semester, my section was curved to like a 2.5 and the other section was curved to a 3.0. I honestly don't know how a school can get away with this but meh, I'm ready to transfer to just about anywhere right now to GTHO of there.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
