Re: 2016 1L Transfer Thread
Is there really any point in transferring to HYS from the top of the class (think top 1-2%) at a lower T14? Very conflicted at the moment. I know a good portion of the top students at my LS go to HYS every year after 1L but I don't really see what you get out of it besides a different name on the diploma. Considering that it would be a lot more expensive, is there any reason that could possibly justify a transfer to HYS for someone in this position?

unless $ is simply not a concern (i.e. rich parents footing the bill), transferring, even to Y, would be a terrible decision for youJustMe83 wrote:Is there really any point in transferring to HYS from the top of the class (think top 1-2%) at a lower T14? Typical from WASHU no one knows from them! I got into Emory too and also deferred from Gtown. Are you planning on attending Emory?

Fingers crossed for everyone...
I just submitted my apps for CLS and NYU last week. Anyone willing to chance me? I'm at a TTT (around 100-115), 3.86 GPA, rank hasn't been released yet but I'm estimating 2%. 2 CALIs, if that's worth anything.

Thanks Nebby! Also applied to a T1 in my region. CLS/NYU are dream shots... If I get dinged, I've got a full ride here at my TTT to fall back on.Nebby wrote:50/50 shot. You applying anywhere else?valign wrote:Fingers crossed for everyone...

It does not seem that you can assign LORs to Yale because you cannot start an app/choose a term. Has anyone figured this out? Yale's application says that letters can be sent via LSAC. So there must be a way.Joscellin wrote:Yale will pull a CAS report once they get your app (is my understanding).PeanutsNJam wrote:Has anybody been able to get LSAC to send rec letters to Yale?

3.759 at Hastings. Cali/Witkin for Legal Writing. Mexican American (bump?). Big law this summer.
A disappointing 2nd semester screwed me out of Stanford, but I am thinking I still have a shot at Berk. Worth applying to NYU or Columbia as well?
Thanks!

Re: 2016 1L Transfer Thread
Anyone applying RD to Chicago? Received an 'application complete' email that seems to specifically say to not send any application updates.
Does that mean I actually *shouldn't* update with things like Journal, or does it just apply to 'don't make stuff up just to keep you on our radar?'

Caveat: I know nothing about Wayne St. - That said, I can't imagine that this move could be a bad one, especially if for whatever reason money is not an issue.AprilintheD wrote:Would it be worth it to transfer from Wayne State to Michigan?
3.76 1L GPA. Career goal is Detroit big law. Am on Moot Court; decent shot at Law Review.
Is it worth it to give all that up and try and transfer?
Money is not an issue. Biggest thing is getting a Detroit big law job. Feel like I have equal shot at either place. Would it be worth it to try and transfer?
What does a 3.76 likely rank you at Wayne? I imagine quite high.

Hi,
do you mind sharing when you applied and when your applications went complete? I am applied weeks ago but my school only sent the class rank and transcripts this week and Duke and Cornell for example said it could take them weeks to complete things that they receive per postal mail. I am worried I am already too late because some people have already been accepted and the schools I am really interested in only take a small number.

I don't know the exact dates, but most of them were complete a couple days after I submitted all my transcripts and everything. Did you send them your unofficial transcript as soon as it became available?Tala29 wrote:UCLAHopeful16 wrote:I was just accepted to UCLA and will be withdrawing all my other apps. Honestly, that's complete BS that it would take them that long. What's so hard about scanning it into your file?
They're probably just being annoying and telling you that, but I bet it will be complete after a few days. Send in whatever unofficial stuff you have.

Re: 2016 1L Transfer Thread
The schools all have my transcripts since last week. I didn´t send an unofficial transcript because I had no idea we could do that unfortunately. But I was told at some schools that they won´t review my application until the class rank came out anyways. I asked my school to submit the class rank letter by email to speed up the process and they will be sending it today. Hopefully that speeds up the process, because everything else is complete.UCLAHopeful16 wrote:I don't know the exact dates, but most of them were complete a couple days after I submitted all my transcripts and everything. Nice! I'd just send an email to all the others with an update on your class rank instead of waiting for your school to do it, just in case. Even though they said they won't review until they get the official stuff, it will give them more info and might get the ball rolling.Tala29 wrote:Yay! One application just showed as complete. Hello Everyone!
New to the TLS forum
Stats are as follows: Top Tier LS in CA & Ranking = Top 25%
What schools are reasonable prospects for transferring? I am applying to:
Berkeley
Columbia (was waitlisted initally)
Cornell
NYU
USC
UCLA
Georgetown (?) (was waitlisted initially)
Stanford
I've looked at the ABA 509 reports, but if there's any first hand knowledge it'd be greatly appreciated!

No. This hurts you in clerkship hiring and probably firm hiring too. Chance me:
Top 6% (got an actual rank #) at UC Hastings. Got a scholarship boost today but not enough to make me stay. Want to practice in the Bay Area.
Applying:

Northwestern

Lock at UCLA; good chance at B; fair (edit: maybe 50/50, just speculating though) chance at NYU; Northwestern seems to be regional-friendly for transfers and not much else if I remember their 509mac35352 wrote:Chance me:
