Re: GULC EA Waiting Thread 2015
Does anyone know if we need to maintain a certain GPA/class rank for the Spring semester if we have been accepted during the EA cycle?
Thanks and Congrats all!

Just for purposes of statistical record... Backdoor worked - T1 (45-50) - School that doesn't rank but likely top 10%
Congrats to everyone!

For all you guys like me who might be a little neurotic about the back door working. It worked for me today and my letter came in the mail. Dated April 6 and postmarked the 7th. I live just outside DC so time adjust accordingly.

It is. But it's just a normal envelop not a big packet or anything.zosluu wrote:Awesome! This thread fills me with joy. There was no better feeling than going into Spring finals with an acceptance already in hand. Now you all should kill Spring finals and see what further options are available.

It's also great knowing I won't have to worry about getting LoR's at the end of the semester and my PS is already ready to go. (And that there's no glaring deficiencies in my application - GULC was kind of a litmus test for that haha).

I don't have the info with me but IIRC it was $600 due by May 1st and $1000 due by June 1st. But yes the info is included with the letter.christraeger wrote:Thanks for the info! It's nonrefundable too. Sucks, but worth biting that bullet if PCCNHYS comes a-calling.

Someone in an earlier post said that it is rolling, so it's not out of the realm of possibility.hotwetman21 wrote:Any chance that today is the 2nd round of EA admits?? hahah

Re: GULC EA Waiting Thread 2015
Unlikely there is another round of admits. First, they already have the complete pool of applicants that applied by 3/15 so nothing has changed for them to reconsider apps that weren't initially accepted. Second, given the volume of applications they receive, doing two rounds of acceptances would be prohibitively costly given the admin resources necessary for the entire process.
Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but its probably more realistic that those who were deferred will just be considered again with the RD pool. EA admits are GULC's way of securing applicants to pay the deposit early, and admit those who, even if they tanked second semester, would have the necessary grades to be accepted RD anyway.

Maybe not the best thread but still, is anyone aware of any affordable (less than $1k/month) apartments? I know in DC is a very long shot, but I've look in surrounding area including MD and VA and no luck.

Isn't Baltimore an hour from D.C.?estates wrote:Baltimoreinchipwetrust wrote:Maybe not the best thread but still, is anyone aware of any affordable (less than $1k/month) apartments? I know in DC is a very long shot, but I've look in surrounding area including MD and VA and no luck.

Re: GULC EA Waiting Thread 2015
Less than $1K/month is not DC 'affordable.' It is DC 'non-existent'. Expect, bare minimum, to pay $1100 from some dude on CL for a shady studio somewhere out in MD/VA.inchipwetrust wrote:Maybe not the best thread but still, is anyone aware of any affordable (less than $1k/month) apartments? Group houses are the CR. going from 1 to 2 bedrooms does not double the price, so if you can find a roomie and split somewhere, things get better and your costs go down.

Re: GULC EA Waiting Thread 2015
I'm originally from right outside of DC in Virginia. Don't live in Baltimore. It's about an hour out, and that's with no traffic. With rush hour, you're looking at a potentially 2 hour commute one way. If anywhere, live in Alexandria or Arlington. You can find cheaper places that are still accessible to DC with the metro.sandwhich wrote:Isn't Baltimore an hour from D.C.?estates wrote:Baltimoreinchipwetrust wrote:Maybe not the best thread but still, is anyone aware of any affordable (less than $1k/month) apartments?
