Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
I went through my e-mails. I went complete on 6/17 and was accepted via email on 6/25 (a Thursday, at 11:00 AM). I seem to recall several other acceptances at around that time. But I know several classmates who heard in July, and I think even one in August.shmoo597 wrote:For those of you who went through this last year - arrow, for example - any info on how the acceptances were sent out? Was there a big batch in late june, followed by another big batch after the july 15th deadline? Or did they trickle out as they were reviewed?
Not sure if that's any help. I remember being in your shoes and can sympathize.
Best of luck.

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
I got in to Berkeley with what seems to be the first round of acceptances (via phone call from Dean Tom).
(I'm top 10-20% at a T30 in the Midwest and a California native)
However, given an east coast acceptance (GULC), I will likely not be attending, even though the idea of living at home and paying in state tuition is tempting.

Any idea what his stats are? Just so the rest of us can gauge what type of person they're still admitting at this point.shmoo597 wrote:Well, I didnt get in today, but my friend got an email acceptance a few hours ago. I hope they arent done for the day/week....

To echo those above, any idea on the friend's stats and review date?

My friend was prob around top 5% from a t20 school. Went under review the same day I did - the 23rd. The good news is that he wants east coast and will prob go there if michigan, penn, etc accept him. One more spot for all of us. Did no one else on TLS get an email today?

Good to hear that this 3-day UR/DR turn around isn't true and there's still hope for everyone else that went UR on the 23rd.shmoo597 wrote:My friend was prob around top 5% from a t20 school. Recently admitted to Boalt, but it seems problematic because we have to respond by the 15th. Is there no way to wait on HYS? (which seem to come out third week of july?)

Deadline is in the packet that they send via postal mail following the acceptance call/email. Don't know if they extend the deadline for late-admits. That would be sweet, though.

Did other people just get the LR email? It seems like a pretty sweet deal - guaranteed 8 spots for transfers students. I don't know of any other school that offers transfers that sort of access to Law Review.

Yea, what does this sentence mean though?EggShellPlaintiff wrote:Did other people just get the LR email? It seems like a pretty sweet deal - guaranteed 8 spots for transfers students. I don't know of any other school that offers transfers that sort of access to Law Review.
"CLR reserves approximately eight spots for transfer students each year and traditionally about 20-30 individuals write on."

I think it means that there are 20-30 students out of the entire student body that write on, and about 8 of those are transfers. That is freaken awesome.

The timing of the write on is MUCH better than I originally thought. Still though, I would gauge my write on chances at around 5%

I'm pretty sure the e-mail meant that 20-30 transfer students participate in the write-on competition, of which up to 8 will receive offers.Journeybound wrote:I think it means that there are 20-30 students out of the entire student body that write on, and about 8 of those are transfers. So it looks like the big waves of acceptances are done, and only those with especially good numbers are hearing back? Guess the wait to after july 15 begins....

Is anybody else waiting to hear from Stanford/Harvard? Looks like the decisions don't come out until the third week of July (at the earliest) and Berkeley is setting the deadline at July 15th. Anyone?

Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
Many others are probably in your shoes. If you don't hear from S or H by the 15th, you will have to request an extension from Berkeley or else take a gamble one way or the other. My guess is that Berkeley will grant a few more days, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. No adcom wants to be strung along as the third best option, and plenty of qualified students not yet accepted would jump on Boalt quicker than you could say "so... I still haven't heard from Harvard/Stanford..."sandiego wrote:Is anybody else waiting to hear from Stanford/Harvard? Re: Official UC-Berkeley Transfer Thread
You might be able to call Stanford or Harvard and tell them about your deadline. I'm not sure how helpful they'll be though; they'd probably be more likely to help you if you're a rockstar than if you're a borderline candidate. I know someone last year that had a deadline from Chicago and told Harvard about it - they never got back to him in time and he ended up depositing at Chicago.
How many people are in this situation? Unless you're only interested in the West Coast it seems like you should get a CCN acceptance in the interim.

Seriously though, it seems pretty obvious to me that boalt sets its deadline on july 15th for a reason - its not like they are unaware that most of their top transfer applicants are also applying to HYSCCN, which all give their acceptences way later then berkeley. I'm sure the dilemma is quite common. My advice to all of those with boalt acceptances would be to give up your slot and gamble on the better schools. This is advice is given purely for selfish reasons. But do you guys really want to be left always wondering if harvard could've been?
