Education
Harvard Law School - JD
BLANK
Everything else
Are secondary journals worth the time for clerkship purposes?
I mean, at Harvard, you can definitely gun for latin honors, and are actually at a bit of an advantage because 2L/3L curves are a little friendlier than the 1L curve.
As far as secondary journals go, I've heard conflicting things about whether they're worth the time, but I'm a transfer with secondary journal and got an appellate clerkship during 2L.

I am starting to doubt my chances after seeing all the stats here!

I had a very challenging year personally (for family reasons) and so my GPA was not very high: 3.58 (both semesters) at a high 40´s school - my rank is about 16%.
Info: work experience, a Master´s degree, international student, VP at international law society at school, and got a summer associate position at a Big Law firm abroad.
I know I aimed very high, but these are the schools I applied to:
NYU
Columbia
UCLA
Michigan
Duke
Do I even have a chance?

Maybe Michigan. Why not Northwestern? You have a decent shot there.

I visited Northwestern and know some people who graduated from there. I didn´t really like it too much to be honest.
NYU would be best for me because I want to do international law and I have family in NY. I also think NYU is the most transfer friendly out of all.

Duke takes very few transfers period, so odds there are low. Odds at UCLA should be pretty good. Idk about CCN but it's certainly not impossible.

Thanks! What a shame, Duke is my top 2 after NY.
UCLA asked me for an interview next week, so maybe that's a good sign.

I turned in my application to UCLA almost two weeks ago and just sent my Spring grades still nothing from them. My buddy just got the email asking for an interview, starting to think I may be passed over

Have you gotten any 'application received' notification? If not, you may want to call and check.

Yes I got the application received email almost the same day that I submitted my application along with the status checker. I just sent in my Spring grades via unofficial transcript the other day. Just hearing that everyone around me is getting interviews makes me start to wonder if I am out in the cold

Speaking of UCLA... I'm worried I might not get accepted because my grades, on its face, don't look too hot compared to other applicants. Rankings have not come out yet but will soon. Last year's top 3% was at a 3.26 for 1L's. However, I have a feeling it will be higher this year because our class is pretty well-rounded and smart.
I'm currently attending a bottom-tiered school (Whittier in CA) and have a cumulative of 3.33, having CALI'd one of my courses Fall semester. My Contracts class really hurt my GPA as it's weighted as a 5 unit one semester course. Everything else is either average or above average.
I'm wondering what my chances are of getting into UCLA if my ranking ends up being in the top 10 or 15%. Kind of relying on having a kick ass personal statement and LOR's right now. UCLA or bust for me. I'm willing to stay at Whittier if I don't get into UCLA because then I would save money by taking scholarship awards.

Call the school. Stanford doesn't usually care, so long as they get in eventually and the 'review necessary' documents are there by the 15th. Some schools can take by email while waiting on a hardcopy, or just take a fax.

Without question.

Yale will pull a CAS report once they get your app (is my understanding).

Hello peeps! I'd love thoughts on where I have a shot to transfer.
3.759 at Hastings. Cali/Witkin for Legal Writing. Mexican American (bump?). Big law this summer.
A disappointing 2nd semester screwed me out of Stanford, but I am thinking I still have a shot at Berk. Worth applying to NYU or Columbia as well?
Thanks!

So that would leave your rank at what?

That part of my file is still blank when I log in (Edit: I called, and they said they haven't calculated it yet). It does say that top 15% for C/O 2015 was 3.609 and top 10% was 3.671 and above. Class size is about 300.

Feeling out of sorts because I think everything is complete on my end, just waiting on pieces in the mail and following up.

Getting really stressed out about everything.
Work is a nightmare. Work began with a 1000 page document dump with only direction being: "write answer, claim, counterclaim, discovery demand, and do an EBT while you're at it."
Next day: "Find time to help me get out of this parking ticket for a client (who's paying whatever the billable is for a $110 ticket).
And I am still waiting for my last grade that's overdue.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
