For those that got a WL email, did anything change on the status site before or after your e-mail?

They seem to think WAITLIST = DECISION RENDERED.
Me, I'm not so sure.

exactly this for meafterglow99 wrote:I plan on going...unless Columbia or NYU comes knocking, which I doubt they will.thexfactor wrote:is anyone "actually" going to attend GULC?
They basically rejected the kids that they are suppose to take. Everyone that seemed to have gotten an acceptance to GULC also got into a better school.
except maybe penn too

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
I'm going to withdraw my place in the class tomorrow -- I'm going with Penn over GULC after a long internal debate between the 2.
hopefully that will help someone on the waitlist!

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
they dont hav ea massive wait list. They are waitlisting people who used to be auto accept individuals
IE. T30 5%. Most of these people are going to other, smaller and better T14 schools.
This will be a very small year for GULC. Almost everyone on the forum that got into GULC could have went to another T14.

Who are "these people"? The t30, 5 percenters? All I know is that at my t35 school (though it was a t30 at the time of initial EA decisions), they took a number of people in the top tenth.thexfactor wrote:they dont hav ea massive wait list. I think you are putting too much stock in the small (and likely skewed) sample size that is TLS. You also assume that most people who get accepted to GULC plus another T14 will choose the non-GULC T14. However, I, for example, likely would have chosen GULC despite having been admitted to a "better" school.thexfactor wrote:they dont hav ea massive wait list. I also checked Yahoo Transfer. I have never seen anyone in that database that got rejected with T50 5% or better. Everyone T50 5-10 % seemed to have gotten accepted. Maybe at worse a WL.
This year, it seems that everyone 5%-10 was rejected.

Ok, but I'm still not sure how your point relates to the size of the waitlist.

this. and are there any others still waiting for an initial decision that could double the size of the waitlist or prove that they were just not ready to make final decisions yet and therefore waitlisted people as some version of giving them a 'decision'.Bankhead wrote:Ok, but I'm still not sure how your point relates to the size of the waitlist.

no one is going to stay on their waitlist if they already got into a better school.

Jesus I can't believe you guys are getting waitlisted with those numbers. By all accounts, at every school, this year has been VERY competitive. Not suprising ITE - everyone wants to trade up.

The point Bankhead is trying to get through to you is that s/he herself/himself is a living counterfactual to your ridiculous, absolute statement.thexfactor wrote:no one is going to stay on their waitlist if they already got into a better school.

Sorry, but does that make ANY sense?
GULC over NW?
