Columbia Transfer Waiting Thread 2014 Forum

A forum for those current students who are or may be transferring from one school to another. Post any questions, advice, or other transfer related comments here.

Anonymous Posting

Anonymous posting is only available to the creator of each thread. The anonymous posting feature is intended to permit the solicitation of anonymous advice regarding the transfer application process, chances of being accepted, etc. Unacceptable uses include: testing the feature, questions which are clearly fake or hypothetical in nature, harassing other users, etc. Posters should also read and understand the announcements posted at the top of the Transfers forum prior to using the anonymous feature.

I agree with a lot of what you said except that you think the CLS v NYU thing is nominal to the schools. They absolutely care to get the BEST caliber student. They do report job placement or 2Ls of which I'm pretty sure transfers are included. Yes they don't care about lsat/gpa for USNWR but they still want the transfers to get jerbs - which is not as easy with 'lesser' applicants.

Plus, dont you think CLS is conscious of their peer-school in NYU and wants to keep the leg up all around?

I also disagree that they care if people really "want" to be there.

yeah that's true...i was just speaking from a "We need X revenue so we need Y number of applicants to commit by Z date" perspective when i mentioned whether candidates wanted to be there or not. They have to admit applicants who will commit and there's no negotiating with them like in normal JD admissions. U just admit a bunch of kids and hope enough of them enroll. But I agree that hire-ability is definitely taken into consideration too

Other admits should be hearing soon. I assume that CLS hand emails the letters since they have to be individually attached.

I got the email at 3:36pm EST

Deposit deadline is July 16.

I submitted 6/10 and complete 6/25 (though I was told they had the components before officially going complete).
