Re: The George Washington University 2012 Transfer Thread
mrslaw2014, congrats! see you in the fall!
sherlock10, JAG PLC (at least that's what it's called for USMC, not sure for other branches), is a program where you goto OCS before law school, get commissioned, and then delay active duty for 4 years while you attend law school and pass the bar, some services will pay for your schooling if you go this route.
Some services may still have a program where they'll pay part or all of your schooling if you are accepted and commit now. If you get in during 2L, you'll be sent to OCS and commissioned your 2L summer. You should look into it ASAP. I hear that JAG is getting more competitive, but as long as you're in great physical shape, and have good grades, then I think you'll be fine. Of course, a better school looks better, but in the end, the only requirement is that you graduate from an ABA school and pass the BAR in any state. Talk to an OSO (Officer Selection Officer) in your area first, and find out when the selection board meets, the demand for JAG in your desired service, and how to be a competitive applicant.

Ha. Thanks, this is good to know. I just like getting that MPN and Grad Plus stuff out of the way, but if I'm not behind, then I won't worry about it.dudders wrote:Continuing students just got theirs yesterday, FYI. This isn't "late" for GW.Lawst wrote:Has anyone gotten a financial aid award letter yet? I know we're transfers, but we're about six weeks away from the start of classes, so it seems kinda late in the process.
I also haven't received word yet of how many credits they're accepting. I mean, I've been in since early April and got my spring grades to them a month ago.
Thanks, Crossarmant - I did that financial aid form a few days ago, so should be good.

I guess GW's just messing with me. Maybe they know they can string me along because I'm PT?

Man, I just realized not a single person has been dinged or waitlisted at GW, or at least has not posted on here.

Re: The George Washington University 2012 Transfer Thread
I think there might be more transfers this year to make up the difference in the budget for the smaller entering class size. Just a theory, but if that is the case, it sucks for both transfers and current rising 2Ls because it simply equals more competition at OCI.lnllnl wrote: Congrats on Duke!

No movement here. I think the staff of GWU law review is very very small.... My home school journal notified by phone call.....

Federal Communications Law Journal!
It was actually my first choice (after law review) so I'm pretty happy as I want to do FCC work in DC.

This silence is excruciatingly anxiety inducing. Hooray for two whole damn days of it.

Same nothing yet. I'm a GW Scholar. Starting to get nervous. Anyone hear from law review?DJ5 wrote:I feel your pain, haven't heard anything yet.crossarmant wrote:This silence is excruciatingly anxiety inducing. Hooray for two whole damn days of it.

Also as far as hierarchy International Law Journal is supposedly second. But if you want to go into a certain type of law the journal covering that law is probably better.

Wait? So emails went out for those who got NO journals? Care to share this email? I never received one so I'm wondering if that means I got at least some secondary journal....DJ5 wrote:Just got an e-mail, didn't make any journals =(
