Re: 2011 Transfer Cycle
Figured I would list my transfer cycle here to let it be accessible next year for people (and to brag one more time):
School in the 60s, 3.844/4.000, Ranked in top five students in class, 1 CALI
NYU: In (7/21)
Columbia: In (7/15)
Penn: In (7/8) ATTENDING
Advice - Not that I'm not thrilled with my results, but I would have given H a shot in hindsight. They have certainly turned down people with better numbers from better schools, but people with better numbers have been turned down from schools I got into. I should have tried (if only to find out what my limit was). I would recommend that people throw an app to one school they probably won't get into when transferring. The black box runs both ways. Either way, I love Penn and am stoked to start interviewing at a school where Symplicity requires more than one page to show all of the available firms in my target market.

Cool, I'm also attending. Looking at information online and very excited to start.
Have you found housing?
Have you registered for the OCI?

No I haven't found housing yet, but continually trying to find something (semi) affordable. Are you from San Diego? I've never lived in this part of the city so I don't know where to look really. I know OB/PB/La Mesa/North Park/Bay Park but I haven't really started seriously trying to find something yet.
I just registered for OCI, but I need to revise my resume tonight before I do anything. I will glance through the posted jobs though.

Re: 2011 Transfer Cycle
Cool, just found housing today (semi-affordable, and close to school,) and will sign my lease before I get there. I'm not originally from San Diego, so everything is being done with fingers crossed lol. I had the same problem, and when you look online everything points you in the opposite direction, but I've been studying maps and figured the Linda Vista best. The area is about $500 less than on the beach, it's close to TONS of shopping and attractions, 10 min drive from the beach, .6 miles from the school, and not too much "crime" in the area lol.autumnaesthetic wrote:e_law wrote:autumnaesthetic wrote:Yup.. I'm assuming you’re from SD and you know more, what do you think about Pacific Beach. According to the "internet," most students live there. I just refuse to pay $1700+ a month for a place to sleep and eat.

Is it rude to call a school to inquire about when a decision might be released?

PB is not really good place to live if you are serious about studying. I personally don't like Linda Vista area much and you will see why if you really end up live there. You can find a nice 2 bd place around mission/fashion valley area and it will be a lot less than $1700. Plus if you share it with a like-minded roommate then it will really save you a lot of money. Looking forward to meet you at the orientation.

Re: 2011 Transfer Cycle
So I didn't do it because I didn't want to appear rude and impatient, and as of today still haven't heard back. I'm in at another school and already put my seat deposit down, so I'm happy about that, but I'd still like to hear back from what was originally my top pick. Does anyone know why UC Davis might be taking so long? And is it a bad/good sign to not hear back? Not anxious, just wondering.e_law wrote:I did it, they sent me a rejection email 5 min later..no kidding.mebeSajid wrote:I've done it a few times. Re: 2011 Transfer Cycle
First, just wanted to say that TLS has been a great place to share the horrible, but ultimately satisfying process of transferring. I am glad to be done
I hope i am an example for those not in the top 15% after 1L to not give up and just just send out apps.
t4 , top 24% (top 18% Spring), did not attempt LR at original school
Villanova: In
GW: Painfully long wait and OUT (8/1)
Georgetown: out
George Mason: W/D incomplete since 4/13 and admissions was ugh...
UMD: In and attending
American: In
Temple: out
Drexel: In w/ $
Hawaii: Out
Catholic: Out
Baltimore: In
Good luck to everyone still waiting and to those looking to transfer next year.
My advice is to just put time into your PS and sell yourself. GET EVERYTHING IN EARLY. admissions WILL lose your stuff or take a coons age to process it.
Don't be afraid to try.
