A forum for those current students who are or may be transferring from one school to another. Post any questions, advice, or other transfer related comments here.

Anonymous Posting

Anonymous posting is only available to the creator of each thread. The anonymous posting feature is intended to permit the solicitation of anonymous advice regarding the transfer application process, chances of being accepted, etc. Unacceptable uses include: testing the feature, questions which are clearly fake or hypothetical in nature, harassing other users, etc. Posters should also read and understand the announcements posted at the top of the Transfers forum prior to using the anonymous feature.

Yup, they move with such swift urgency. Again, its not like any life-altering decisions need to be made on incredibly short notice...

Friend in the Stanford Admissions office tells me that some transfer decisions may be made as late as early August. For what that's worth. It is kind of crazy to think about it, but I think they admit 0L's from the wait list as last as mid-August as well!

Sadly, that is all I have. Just stay calm and ponder this: I'm about to be a 3L at Chicago. Wherever you are now (or will be next year), I guarantee you it will be more fun than Chicago :) (jokes I love it here)

Calm, calm. Last year a girl I know was admitted to CLS in early August, and she now works at one of the nation's best law firms (V5). CLS will not let you down.

missed call from NYU admissions this afternoon, but no message.... what does it mean!?!! Called previously and was told my application was complete, but the status checker says application being processed 7/1/11....

Sometimes they call to let you know what documents are sill missing. But it's still strange that they didn't leave a message.

NYU called me today. They said it was a courtesy call to tell me I was missing documents. I told them I had already withdrawn 2 weeks ago.

The thing that was frustrating me for the longest time was that they have so fewer apps to process (than regular admissions), so it seems taking care of them would be easier. Then it was pointed out to me that they are probably understaffed.

But there's another concern. Why don't they at least bother to look at all resumes when they come in, regardless of complete status, in order to "move" on the competitive applicants. It sucks for both parties when someone is being ignored because of a missing deans cert.

It has occurred to me that they are screening resumes and they ARE moving on competitive applicants (i.e. contacting them quickly about missing stuff and accepting unofficial copies.) So maybe...I'm just not so competitive?

As you can tell, this process is getting to me.

Edit:and my cell typing sucks.

Yes-- im still "submitted for review". Called SLS and they said they are planning to make all decisions by the end of the month. In other words, if you're still "submitted for review" then you're not out yet. I take it as a defacto waitlist.

The woman also said that there is a way to compete for the write-on even if accepted later. I wasn't 100% sure what she meant by this but she said late admit could still write-on. Aug 1 is also the OCI deadline so we'd still be able to bid.

I suspect she meant note-on as a 2L. Perhaps?

I have an awful feeling I was just rejected. Status checker changed ambiguously (seems to have glitched), but no phone call.

My SLS status changed too. Actually, it changed twice. It might be glitchy, it might be a negative sign, it might be a positive. Someone can PM me if they want to see if it is the same result. For the person worrying about not getting called, this just occurred and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't call until tomorrow at 8 am PST.
