I transferred to HLS last year from a low T2. To clarify some speculation going on here:

1. No interviews. Yet when I got there, every administrator knew exactly who I was by name, work experience, and reputation. They apparently don't need an interview to know you.
2. It's actually not a numbers game so don't obsess about your undergrad GPA/LSAT/first semester/etc. At our orientation someone asked why we were all there, and they said that they get SO many qualified people, they like to pick people who seem interesting. I was from a very scrappy school and was not even in the top 5 of people in my class, but got in. You definitely don't have to be #1. It helps if you're close, though. I think once you hit a certain competency point, they choose based on other who knows what factors. I can say that the transfer class is definitely an eclectic and interesting bunch.
3. Our transfer class is about 29? 30? I HIGHLY doubt they admit 40-50. I can't imagine a lot of people turn it down.
4. There is no scam to get extra income from transfers. HLS is the only school that gives transfers any financial aid (need-based, and not at ALL generous, but it's there for some people).

To the comment about 34 transfers in last year: the transfer "class" also includes a few people who are actually visiting from other schools, not transferring proper. I know of at least three visitors who were not "true" transfers because they are returning to their schools or graduating at the end of the year. So I think the actual number was a little bit lower. 29-31?

I think it's the latter. They tend to finish decisions by mid July. I think what they do is

1. Big wave
2. Wait to see how many take
3. if class full, rejections. If slots open ->4.
4. Small wave
5. wait to see how many take
6. see #3

Rinse and repeat til done. That's why it's a trickle at the end,

In that case, I think we might get decisions this week. In the past 2 years, there's been at least a week between first wave and final dings. Next Thursday is 10 days from now, so that means they'd need to get acceptances out by this Thursday if they still want to allow a week to send out dings.

just wanted to point that that YLS gives transfers financial aid too, so as not to deter anyone choosing between the two. i also wouldn't be surprised if HLS admitted 40-45 with a yield of 30 - students who get into HLS get into other really great schools (including YLS) and choose to go elsewhere.

In 2013, the first reported decision was on July 8 (a Monday), around 4:30 p.m. (See http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... &start=125.) In 2012, the first reported decision was on July 6 (a Friday), around 2:10 p.m. (See http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 5&start=25.) In 2011, it appears there was one wave of acceptances on July 8 (a Friday), and another wave of acceptances on July 11 (a Monday). (See http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... it=harvard.) In 2010, it appears only 13 students were accepted, and in 2009 and 2008, apparently, 0 transfer students were admitted. (See http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2010/ ... rvard-new/.)

This year, the application deadline was moved up a full two weeks. Add to that the fact that Admissions told zoomzoom88 on July 2 that decisions would be out in "at the most 10 days but most likely sooner (aka next week)" (thanks for calling and sharing this info with us, zoomzoom88!), and I think there's a good chance the first decisions will come out tomorrow afternoon. At the very latest, we're probably looking at the first decisions coming out by the 12th, if "10 days" means 10 calendar days, or by the 16th, if "10 days" means 10 business days.
